Been wondering ... Does it count as tinnitus if you can ignore it?

Yes it definitely counts as tinnitus which I have had in my left ear for years. Hearing aids help to a degree (I wear two) but I largely ignore the tinnitus which is pretty much constant. You will notice that when you are out and about and absorbed in life you won’t notice the sounds.

Usually when it’s quiet or I take my aids out I will notice but it hasn’t interfered with sleep. It’s great that it doesn’t bother you. You have learned to adapt but it’s not easy to do that for many. You will also notice that exposure to loud sounds will aggravate the condition (restaurants for me) or maybe too much caffeine. Like you, I wish I didn’t have it…..it is not going away but I can easily ignore it.

Yes, it definitely does count. 🙂 I hear my tinnitus the same way and have been able to push it aside because those crickets remind me of spending summers at the lake with my grandmother. We are fortunate to interpret the sounds that way.

Exactly the same for me. The cicadas were always noisy when I visited grandparents.

is it tinnitus, a neighbors poolpump, or infrasound???

@Itecato. Haha, yep, it still counts! I've had tinnitus since 1975, caused, they think, from a brainstem AVM. At first I allowed it to almost make me crazy, tried every known treatment (none work!). Finally learned to accept it, even though there are five different sounds identified by the auditory specialists. Sometimes the cacophony accelerates to a point of intolerable, but usually I'm able to ignore it as best I can.

I also have tinnitus after taking Metoprolol for BP. I switched to something else, but have read it will never go away completely. I began reading about the possibility of taking supplements for it. The one that has the highest reviews is called; Synapse XT for tinnitus. I started taking, but then after only taking for a couple days, because of other health issues. I'll be having surgery soon, so I don't know when I'll be starting them back up again. You should Google the Synapse XT to see if it sounds any good to you.

There is only one independent review of this supplement: https://www.tinnitus.org.uk/tinnitus-and-synapse-xt, which concludes there is no evidence of effectiveness.

Every other "review" or warning that comes up in a Google search is a direct or disguised advertisement.

How to tell the difference:

It’s probably a REVIEW if:
-done by an organization, government agency or independent lab with no connection to the seller, and it says so
-compares two or more similar products
-doesn’t contain direct link(s) to purchase any of the products

It’s probably an ADVERTISEMENT if:
-The review is published by the manufacturer or seller
-Only one product is reviewed, and there is no evidence the reviewer is independent of the seller
-There is a big photo of only the single product being reviewed
-There is a link to click on the page to purchase the item

It is DEFINITELY an ad if it meets all of the above criteria and pretends to be a “warning”

It is just so hard to know what to believe these days - I consider myself pretty internet savvy, and I got bitten by 2 scams this summer.

Yeah, most of these supplement companies push you into buying their bundles, because they say that you should take at least for two or three months to be sure they are performing correctly. I ordered just the one bottle of 60 capsules and reccomends taking 2 for best results 20-30 minutes before eating. My tinnitus isn't that bad; or doesn't seem to be getting worse at least. I have 50 capsules left; so that is three and a half weeks left to take. I highly doubt that I'll even notice e a difference even if they do what they're supposed to do in that short of a period. It makes you wonder when everything you read about tinnitus says there is no known long lasting cure for it.

Metropolo caused your tinnitus I've been on it for seven years after a quadruple bypass ears started ringing a year later they also think maybe baby aspirin no I Take rosuvastatin 5 mg for cholesterol and it has caused my right ear to start ringing but you never did before I've been on that medication for year-and-a-half I would like to know how you found out maybe Metropolo and what else you're trying now years might be damaged already though. Please respond
