Loss in sensation when I breathe through nose
I’ve been congested for a while and recently i’ve felt like there was “extra” air when I was breathing through my nose I didn’t know how to explain it until I read some of the symptoms of empty nose syndrome which is common after nasal surgerys. I feel like I am not breathing like a lack of sensation in my nose. I have never had any nose surgery but I have been using nasal sprays to clear my sinuses. For reference I am suffering from anemia right now with one of the symptoms being shortness of breath. It does not feel like shortness of breath though. What is wrong im starting to panic.

@mslw-you are welcome. I am assuming you are or have been dealing with congestion or side effects from nasal sprays?
It is very frustrating. There are too many reasons to name, for the cause of congestion.
You can get to the root cause with effort and help and save the delicate tissue in your nose.
For example-if someone has a congestion response to dairy, you are not told to use nasal sprays, you are told to cut out dairy.
Same needs to be for other things that cause congestion. Internal/External can all be addressed with effort.
*I must put out the disclaimer, I know they can help a small majority of people. But they are over prescribed and promoted for the wrong reasons.
There are so many natural options, to rebalance, without causing long term damage to your first line of defense.
It's ok, I understand. Thanks for posting that link for me.
Thank you for your thoughtful description of natural options vs. possible long-term damage from standard treatments.
I don’t know if “congestion” is my problem; I’ve been using the term “nasal crusting,” in Pub Med, etc.
Retired librarian here….would like to do more ‘research’ into nasal ‘crusting’/safe treatments, but there may not be much more good info, available in print and/or could be too many possible causes - and combinations of causes - in each individual.
Therefore, hard to know what to do!
ENT and PCP recommend OTC saline-based sprays, but how much saline is safe re: already-dry nasal passages?
Additional thoughts or info. would be appreciated. 🙏
Thanks anyway for explaining and trying to share a link :).
So, it's been a few months since I had this feeling and lately it's always present 24-7. I have difficulty breathing automatically and always feel like there's too much air going into my nose. It makes me really stressed. I feel a bit relief when I cover my nostril with something to add some air resistance. I had a CT scan which showed that my turbinates slightly atropied because of my chronic rhinitis. Can someone help me, it's really hard to sleep and live thru the day with this condition..My doc only told me to keep using saline rinse to deal with my problem
@juliu2s41-
Get a second opinion. And a CT doesn’t show atrophy, that would be seen on endoscopy visually.
Address your stress/anxiety and ongoing sinusitis.
Not sure if you had used nasal sprays in the past for sinusitis, but they can cause this feeling as well.
