Loss in sensation when I breathe through nose
I’ve been congested for a while and recently i’ve felt like there was “extra” air when I was breathing through my nose I didn’t know how to explain it until I read some of the symptoms of empty nose syndrome which is common after nasal surgerys. I feel like I am not breathing like a lack of sensation in my nose. I have never had any nose surgery but I have been using nasal sprays to clear my sinuses. For reference I am suffering from anemia right now with one of the symptoms being shortness of breath. It does not feel like shortness of breath though. What is wrong im starting to panic.

I used equate nasal spray 24 hr relief
Sorry, I don't understand, equate? Like similar?
Ok it's a brand. I guess the oxymetazoline can cause dryness and contract the blood vessels. Do you still have this sensation?
Yes I think its getting better slowly I suggest you son stop using it or use it less frequently. Instead keep the nostrils hydrated with a humidifier or warm cloth, hot showers/steam. Refrain from messing with it (like excessive blowing). I think its really been helping me!
'Equate Nasal Spray'. I'm pretty sure it's a Walmart brand. I tried to post a link to show you a picture of it, but as a new member, Mayo Clinic wouldn't let me.

@hcgardner1-good to read that you are getting relief from natural remedies. Congestion can be very frustrating and is caused by many many things. Even when the reason for the congestion has subsided we can still remain in a congested state until the nerves and blood vessels relax to their original state( the autonomic nervous system calms).
It is very tempting to want to use nasal sprays, especially steroids during this time. The nasal tissue is very different than any other tissue. Is truly delicate and operates in a finite way. Topical solutions to the mucosa can be damaging in ways that many people do not realize until much after the fact.
Best to use all natural remedies you can find for soothing and calming, while understanding the root cause to your congestion, which could be anything from hormones, blood pressure, medications, stress, or external stimuli, such as dry weather.
I wish I had read your comment 2 months ago. Thanks!
"... a proprietary Mayo Clinic nasal spray...."
Are there ingredients listed on it? If not, how can I find info.about it? Thanks!
@mslw, The 3 ingredients are Mometasone to reduce inflammation, Ipratropium to reduce nasal drainage and Diphenhydramine which is an antihistamine to help reduce nasal drainage. The product description on my prescription is MOMET 0.033% – IPRA 0.02% – DIPH 0.02%. I posted the pharmacy info in a different discussion here - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/605757/
