Best Brand Name Provider for Lexapro
I am trying once more to effectively switch from Lexapro to the generic replacement. Has anyone had difficulty with this process? Does anyone know which generic brand name seems to be most effective? Thank you!

Hi @lmellegard and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I see you are looking to switch your medication. The brand name is Lexapro and the generic replacement is escitalopram.

If you are looking to switch from the brand name to the generic, you can simply ask your physician to write generic only on your prescription.
Have you talked to your doctor about doing this?
Do different generics have different ingredients in them?
I believe they do. My psychologist told me to make sure I stick to the generic brand of Zoloft on each refill. My Psychiatrist agreed and it’s noted on my account at express scripts to only send a certain brand on each refill
