Laryngeal spasms

Posted by Jackie Bell @jbell22, Aug 15, 2021

Hi, I am hoping to hear how others cope/deal with laryngeal spasms. Mine are incredibly scary and basically cut off 99% of my ability to breath, the tiniest sliver of air gets through. They don't last long, about a minute, but to have your throat close and no air coming in is terrifying. Does anyone know of anything that stops them?
Thank you!
Jackie

Definitely will be trying that! Do you mean pull from the lobes down, sides out, top up...can you be more specific? Thank you so much for your suggestion.

I've been using magnesium every day since I read about it on a discussion website. It cut down my laryngeal spasms to 5 or 6 a year from multiple times each month and sometimes each week or even day. I don't have an answer for making the spasms shorter. It seems to attempt to relax and to purse my lips as I attempt to breathe is helpful at least to lower my stress level. I also sip water. Friends have asked what they can do and my friend who is a nurse simply put her hand on my back and breathed with me. It felt supportive and I think even lowered my stress level. I am looking for other's ideas on what has worked for them. Jeanne
