Hi TMJ, I'm glad to hear that you've had success and have not had an UTI for 10 months now.
@rosemariewalters was also asking about the safety and/or necessity of taking D-Mannose and cranberry long term. As always, this is a question best asked of your doctor. I would hate for you to pay for expensive supplements if they are no longer necessary.
Here's more information about D-Mannose https://www.healthline.com/health/d-mannose-for-uti
Rosemarie, how are you doing? TMJ, can you speak with your doctor before continuing with the supplements?
I'm doing much better....thank you. I also made other changes besides taking the supplements that I believe helped. One being not wearing pantie liners. They are made with synthetic materials and can cause irritation and, for some, infection. Should only wear 100% cotton liners. That area has to breathe. Another was I cut back acidic foods from my diet, which can irritate the bladder. Hope this will help others.
Dear Rosemary and all other volunteer mentors: (Thanking all of you), Some more information. After many, many bladder infections and Sepsis twice (Including growth tests and many other tests nothing was found to cause the infections. E coli was the culprit twice. So now after three and a half years and many many tests I went to a gynacological oncologist who found a mass in the bladder the size of 2.6 which is the first number of a now large size. I did not wait, I continued to press the doctors, Eventually went to another county to Shands; closest to where I live. Now I am having the same troubles finding a doctor to continue on with my care. There is a great possibility that the Corona Virus is burning out our health caretakers. The poor suffering people as I do care for them. So now I again must wait my turn for another visit not until September 30th; Another month from now to see the doctor to now hopefully to create another appointment to wait another month to do some sort of procedure to diagnose (Hopefully not cancer). Ouch! Perhaps my three autoimmune diseases has to do something with this condition? Well after crying to all of you volunteers perhaps I will feel less anxious (Very Anxious). Love, Love to all of you listeners and again thank you for being there. We all need you. Eventually I will stop feeling sorry for myself. Peach
@peach414144 It is the waiting that is torture. Any growth in the bladder is cancerous. Usually a biopsy to see which one. I have another bladder biopsy coming up. I did the BCG and as we all know there are no guarantees. I deal with the PA and if he were not so tall I would box his ears!!!
Thank you I do appreciate your information on this subject. I have been telling the urologists for three years that I have the symptoms with pain in the bladder and continuing UTI's. I have gone to all three groups in my county and had to go a distance away which showed the mass in the bladder. I have said this before "What is wrong with the doctors in my area?". Now I must continue to travel a distance. Sorry to complain but thank you again. Still hanging in there. While we are at this: ChNGED FROM MY NEPROLOGIST TO (AGAIN) A DISTANCE AWAY. Same problem inadequate care. New doctor did a work up with a radiology group and blood and urine, etc. And had one of my medications (which is very bad for the kidneys) changed. Etc., etc. Feel like I want to delete this as I am embarased. Feel like "What is wrong with me, am I a nut case, doi I complain to much, etc., etc.
@peach414144 you are NOT a nutcase-if you are, then, so am I. I do hope this bladder thing is given more attention now!!! I have the same issue in the area I am in. Some doctors are either dense, don't care or lack the education. I just don't know!!! Glad you replied.
Thank you Parus. We are correct. What is happening? Is this also the new political way of "Handling the patients?) Shhhhh!
Yes. "Lack the Education". Are they educating the doctors like what is happening in the schools?
@peach414144 I will comment no further lest I be tarred, feathered and banished. it is the few that govern the reputation of the mass.
I understand.
