Pulmonary Fibrosis any connection with the recall of CPAP’s

Hi Dan here,
I have been diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis about 2 years ago and have been using A CPAP machine prior to the diagnosis. Just wondering if there could be any connection between them.

Hello @dano1, Welcome to Connect, an online community where patients and caregivers share their experiences, find support and exchange information with others. I have no medical background or training and I also have been using a CPAP for a little over 2 years. I had to get a new one because I had 2 of the Philips Respironics recalled devices and little chance of waiting for replacement or repair. The only connection I've read about between pulmonary fibrosis and CPAP's is that they are helpful. Here are a few articles on the topic.

Do you have one of the recalled Philips Respironics devices and have you discussed your concerns with your sleep medicine doctor?

Yes:
I have used CPAP machine for over almost 15 years.
When my machine was recalled I returned the recalled machine and received I started using it just within 6 months I got so sick and breathless my local pulmonologist ordered a CT scan and I have fibrosis in my both lungs and said he can not help me I have to go to a University hospital in Richmond Virginia to a pulmonologist specialist in Fibrosis of lungs.
He asked many many questions about the cause of the fibrosis and did told that I am using CPAP machine but it never occurred to me or the pulmonologist to put two and two together and I was diagnosed with Ideopathic Fibrosis of the lungs After some treatment I was discharged . I was told to go home and was told There is no cure for this disease.
I am at home lying in bed with 24 hrs under Oxygen.
Not able to move.
People are suggesting hospice.
It is terminal case.
Waiting to die one day.
I am glad some one found the connection between CPAP machine and this deadly disease.
My world is up side down…
