I'm so sorry to hear that the diarrhea is so bad that he has had to take time away from work. What treatment or diet changes have been tried?

Usually one or two immodium works for me. He may have food intolerances so he should be tested to find out what he needs to avoid not to have diarrhea which can lead to malnutrition. Good luck!

Try to get an appointment with Mayo. I got into Mayo in FL and its been life changing. I had severe gut, muscle, breathing, and memory challenges. Mayo has been able to unravel the mysteries.. figured out two things and currently Im working with the Integrative Department there to unravel the gut issues. It has improved to the point that I am doing so much better at work! Best of everything to you on your journey 🙂

@beverlyacoleman - I’m so sorry your husband is so bad! It happened to me 2008. I had a colonoscopy and biopsies showed collagenous colitis and I was treated.
Did your husband have diarrhea before Covid? Has he had colonoscopy?
Mayo FL has a great gastroenterology department.

I had the same experience, after consulting with GI MD and doing some research, as well as coincidentally having a patient with this diagnosis, I was diagnosed with it. Had never even heard of it! Anyway, the cause was likely long term use of omeprazole along with SSRI use. A colonoscopy and biopsy confirmed it. Now on famotidine for GERD, pretty effective at 20-40mg, 2x/day.

Diet: until it resolved with tapered steroids and diet, no greens unless fully cooked, no onions, low-fat, etc. No alcohol or chocolate, etc. Once resolved I reintroduced salads, tomatoes, minimal alcohol and chocolate.

Hope this helps someone ❤️

I had a dental implant and was given 11700 mg of Amoxicillin and clav. I had a positive CDiff test. My dentist said to take Vanco but my primary care doctor said to wait. After 2 bouts of diarrhea I took the Vanco. What do you think?

@uconn - C Diff diarrhea can be hard to get rid of. Vancomycin is the treatment used. Do you still have diarrhea?
If you continue with diarrhea it may be best to see a gastroenterologist.
