Number of radiation treatments for whole breast cancer radiation

Mary, I was ER/PR+, HER-, so not triple negative. I only had 19 rads, including 4 boosts. That's probably the minimum, I think most get many more.

This is what was stated on the report from the RO. "hypofractionated radiation therapy which includes 15 fractions to the whole breast with a boost of 4 fractions for a total of 19 fractions giving a total dose of 5005 cGy."

Mary, as I'm sure you know, treatment plans are different from person to person. How many radiation treatments has your team suggested for you? Are you concerned about the number they've recommended?

I am looking for whole breast radiation closer to home. I have metaplastic squamous cell carcinoma, triple negative, grade 2 stage 3, clear margins with a lumpectomy and a clear sentinel node. The recommendation from Mayo radiation oncologist was 4 weeks with a boost the last 5 days.

I had 30 radiation treatments for triple negative stage 2. It was localized treatment. Afterwards, one of my ribs cracked and I have scarring on my esophagus which has led to problems. Radiation ending seemed the start of my journey, sadly to say. I wish you only the best.

If you go to a top cancer center, then you can trust their expert opinion, and get a second opinion always.

I had 16 excellerated treatments following chemo and a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy. I was suppose to have a boost, but it was too close to my heart, so that didn't happen. Just over 3 years out and doing pretty well.

I have triple negative grade 3 stage 2 .ni am getting radiation treatment. “ standard of care, one size fits all”. Cancer treatment should be tailored to the patient. The one size fits all doesn’t work for everyone.What kind oF problems are you having with your esophagus? I will pray for you.

30 , 5,000 cgy’s for the 25 days, 1000 Cgy’s for the last five days

This is close to the same as I had over 15 years ago. However, I am not triple negative. I am pr-,er+,her2+. Grade 3. Have you taken any other treatments, or had surgeries? How are you doing now? Where are you in your 6 week course?

You are not going to believe this . I am handicapped in a wheelchair due ti injury,so I needed an aide to help me get chemo. The hospital social worker contacted 5 agencies in my Area, I contacted 15 on my own. All the agencies said they could not provide assistance everyday for 2 hours so I couldn’t get chemo, so I tried alternate treatment in the Boston area. I was a skeptic but this Chinese master in acupuncture and specific massage she does for the nervous system loosened up my neck that I didn’t have full range of motion in for years so I became a believer. It’s not voodoo it’s based on science and The psychologist Carl jungs theory of universal consciousness and how we can help and heal each other. I feel terrific after the treatment .The cancer doctors insisted I get the “ standard of care radiation” so I am trying to do both,and with whatever energy I have left I work on myself with visualization and classical music, both are healing.
