Has anyone experienced internal vibrations?

Posted by redladyjoni @redladyjoni, Nov 26, 2018

I started having the only way I can explain it is internal vibrations. I've had them for 3 months now, I went to t hihe ER and they told me it was anxiety. A doctor diagnosed me at a clinic as having Lyme disease I've started a 21-day prescription of Doxycycline I'm on day 7. I went to a psychiatrist a week ago to get something because of my nerves are just over the brink. He prescribed me Gabapentin and Valium I've only been on them a few days.
Has anyone experienced these internal vibrations?I have them almost 24/7 chest neck stomach from the hips down. I have more lab tests that should be in today, but the doctor's office said that they would not call unless there was some abnormality in the lab work.

Hi @4grace, @marko82 here. Grace, do you get copies of your tests when you have them? If NOT, PLease start doing so. That way you have a record of what tests you've taken, when and the results. Blood work says on them by each item if it is high or low & gives the normal range. CTs, MRI, and X-rays have Radiologist's reports. Bring those things to a DR to be compared to new tests and prevent having the same test over again. Make sure you get them back. Those are important medical records for you to keep.
A new Dr will make copies for your file and return the original to you. This is really important because they look for changes and can see what's been done before.
**It is also important to WRITE down all questions you have & things you need to mention. With questions use simple sentences - never compound - and leave space for the Dr to write the answer. Have a copy for you so you can ask Dr to go over a question you may not have understood the answer to. Any DR who doesn't like those written questions is threatened by them. Find another Dr.
Not having your insurance accepted is terrible. I don't know what you can do about that except maybe get your provider to give you a list of Drs who do accept it.
It is not too late to get copies of your past labs and other tests. Two choices: Ask at DRs office for copies of all labs and radiology reports or go to the place where you had them done and get copies. The printed out copies are usually free. I pay $10 to get CD copies of any films.
I have a chocolate protein drink with lots of minerals, sodium and protein every morning. It's meant for sports people but we all need the supplements in them even if we don't do sports. I sure don't, The drink makes my vibrations less so my body must need those minerals to function properly.

I get all that yes and I’ve keep records and all but other doctors in Illinois do not like to hear you’ve been to another doctor
Medicaid in Illinois is bad often what you need they won’t give you
I’ve got a difficult situation and in over a 2 hour radiois not very good doctors my ex husband got to go to Indianapolis and they were good

My dentist just refused adults
So I have to travel somewhere else and the dentist was very good and had not finished what they were doing

No one likes Illinois Medicaid

And yes I’m stuck here in Illinois with way out
I so miss North Carolina
My heart hurts to not be there

This is an extremely difficult situation
I know about records and getting copies I do that

If things are rare you often have to try different doctors until one is the right one but like I said it’s sad and frustrating I deal with the bureaucracy of being on public aid and I also used to work for people on Medicaid and the sad stories I heard about them not getting the help they need and now I actually am living it

Sad sad way to live
At least I do have what I’ve got and need to be thankful but I run into so many walls because of the way these doctors treat you because you’re on Medicaid

At least this third hospital doesn’t look Down their nose at me so that I’m thankful for it was 9 months of distrust for me and my caregiver experienced it with me such sad professionals

Maybe in 2 years when I get on Medicare I can go to Mayo until then
It is so nice to know other people experience internal tremors as well
At least I have proof it’s not in my head
Take care and thanks for your info
Hope something works out for you all and the others as well
Bless you

I am so sorry you are treated so badly. In FL they don't treat Medicaid patients any better. I had a friend with a disintegrated hip joint. He had to wait six mos to get a hip replacement on Medicaid. The DRs there sound like insecure egoists if they don't like it that you went somewhere else 1st. I hate it that you have to wait two whole years to get on Maricare. They have their limitations too.
The mineral supplements ARE helping me. I still vibrate but it is barely noticable. I have a DR appt Wed, I'll see then if stress from the appt. has an affect on them.
I wish I could be more help Grace. Have you thought of a Go Fund Me on Facebk to help you get back to NC? That's all I can think of. You've explored every other avenue. I hope you have some very Good Luck very soon. Marko82

Thank you for your kindness!

It’s been one year this month that I fell and yes my outside tremors get worse when I’m stressed as well and I’m in pain every day, they haven’t really addressed my pain on left side except ruled out that it’s not sciatica from an MRI I got in North Carolina but I’ve had lots of physical therapy and the therapist says what I explain it sounds like nerve pain, my bands on the left side draw up and often can’t stretch out my leg without working on it and every day severe stabbing pain down it, the therapist in North Carolina and in Illinois believe I’m hyper mobile but ruled out EDS and said I’m another hyper mobile and my genetic doctor was going to figure it out and she passed away bless her but she tested EDS by DNA and one in all the testing I have one gene that is bad in one pair but if both were bad I’d be having the same symptoms I’m having but sense the one is good it cancels out the bad one, then there are three more genes that are bad and and I need more testing to figure out that but the genetic doctor that replace my doctor was out of state and we who have Medicaid had to wait and also have to have referral so life with doctors has been too much figuring out all this stuff because we had to rule out pre cancer colonoscopy and I have precancerous spots on my skin as well, we ruled out Parkinson as well, but I don’t know if you know much about Hypermobility but I’ve walked sat and stood wrong all my life and it’s harmed my body so that not reversible and right now I try my best to not convert back to the old way I walked sat and stood because when I do it causes severe pain, I also have knee problems and here in Illinois they won’t do anything but my doctor in North Carolina was going to try to help me (I will never move back because I have to have a care giver and he won’t move so I have to accept that but some days it breaks my heart I can’t go back to North Carolina and my mountains) also my hands are hardening and I left NC before I found out and haven’t had time to go fine out what’s happening to my hands but there is a lesion on my forearm bone and the doctor was so rude because of Medicaid when he checked my knees said my insurance won’t pay for MRIs and then they called me with X-ray results of my arm and said I need an MRI lol I said but that doctor told me my insurance doesn’t do MRIs and they wanted the films from the one I did in North Carolina and I said oh how odd he’s so interested about MRIs now anyhow the lesion just has to be recheked every so often to make sure doesn’t grow
This has all been in 10 months living here in Illinois so we’ve been busy also my ex husband is my caregiver and he has small tear in rotary cuff and he keeps pushing surgery off and also we ruled out clogged veins in his legs and he has to have his heart checked every so often too so life’s been a circus and I’m laying low all I can for several months also in 10 months I fought to get SSI and social security disability and thankfully it went through so some positive has happened as well
Just being thankful in this mess some good happens
Oh also yes Illinois is a state that marijuana is legal but there’s concerns how I will react because I’m on some meds that might interact and I have severe reactions to meds and also vocal fold or also know as Vocal cord dysfunction (when I got it it took 1year and 9momths to find a doctor in St. Louis MO to diagnose it and it means my vocal cords are about 70-80% closed and if an irritant in the air or also something I eat it closes off even more if I have a reaction , often I can’t get enough air through my vocal cords and my states go down, so I have to be care of all sorts of irritants but moving back to Illinois and the air quality is bad from farming and the grasses I am worse sense moved back here)
Life is a journey and we all have to run the race which ever it may be !!!
Thanks again for your insights

Read the previous posts. Those Rx's don't help. What's helped me the most are sports mineral capsules + additional 30mg zinc. I still have the vibrations but barely noticeable. Good Luck.

Hi, this is my 1st time on Connect. I’ll introduce myself first and hopefully share with others.
I am a 74 year old female with the usual list of age related medical issues. I have been diagnosed with chronic clinical depression, take my meds. Have been for more years than I can count. My internal vibration issues started approximately 4 or 5 years ago (no particular stress present). I was very tired - laying on my bed and calling down to my husband to ask why the furness was roaring. It was NOT. It has progressed . This is the best way to describe my vibration sensation.
It is a very fine vibration throughout my entire body. It was intermittent and I ignored it as “crazy old lady syndrome “. I have had tinnitus as far back as i can remember. It flared up with a heavy pressure (feeling that my head would blow open) at about the same time. Moving on 3+ years
Neurologist = scans and 2 lumbar punctures no real or pseudo tumor.
ENT = CT scan of inner ear = Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence. This does not explain the vibration, but is the closest we’ve come so far. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I have had less than 2 hours sleep in the past 3 days. The vibration, pulsating engine roar and tinnitus have been 24/7 for the last 2 weeks. I am not functioning well at all. if you’re out there
Please help. thank you.

Hi @jlg47 and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect.... I don't normally attribute my own experiences to members, being a moderator unless I really relate to someone. Right off the bat, I'd like to ask in addition to the internal vibrations and hearing a ringing/voice like or "noise" do you feel the urge to move your body in a succinctness like motion when this happens? The pressure kind of over takes you to a certain extent?
If not? Please disregard...haha

I am younger, but I have irregular early menopause.

I do think you need to pursue this, though. You are obviously not alone with internal vibrations. I have read about post menopausal reactions having counter reactions on the body. Have you talked to a medical professional about this?

Thank you @amandaburnett for getting back to me so soon. In answer to your first question, the roaring engine sound is definitely pulsating in tune to my heartbeat and is now overwhelming. I am not sure if that is what you mean. As an example, I cannot tell if my car is running or not (yes I have left it running unintentionally). As far as post menopausal is concerned my age (74) is post/post/post menopausal. My GP never mentioned it. I will certainly mention it to her.She was concerned about my visit to the ER. They admitted me with blood pressure of 216 over 113 (express line - no waiting). Don’t know if that has any bearing on the vibration thing. I do take 3 blood pressure medications.
1 more of my Down Home Equations - little old lady + doctors = more pills.
Do you suffer from lack of sleep also? It is mentioned in several posts. My eyesight is definitely in and out. I am also nauseous most of the time.
Hope some of this helps in some way. Thanks again for your response.

Hi @jlg47, Yes, the in tune with your body/heartbeat is exactly what I was referring to. I can be standing next to the dryer and not realizes it's going....it's not all the time for me though. Not yet anyway. And yes, I take 3 BP meds as well and I take something for insomnia, only because I work for Mayo and not sleeping isn't really an option. haha.

Do you think this could be due to heart issues?
