Hello, and welcome to Mayo Connect. We are a community of people living with a variety of conditions, who share our experiences, and try to help each other along the way. We are not medical professionals and don't give medical advice but we share our successes and failures.

According to existing guidelines, people with anemia should be vaccinated, but for the best immune response, iron should be as normal as possible.

For a recommendation from the European Hematology association see: https://ehaweb.org/covid-19/eha-statement-on-covid-19-vaccines/

They stress that people with anemia are at higher risk of serious illness, so vaccination is highly recommended.

There have been a number of discussions about iron deficiency and the Covid vaccines, which is not something I have experienced, so hopefully someone who has will speak up and share their experience.

Have you consulted your primary provider about a what they recommend? Is your anemia stable with the infusions?

Sue
