Frankincense and Myrrh for Neuropathy pain
Today I saw the Nutritionist that my doctor sent me to.. As usual, my feet were red and burning. She told me that many Diabetics that she counseled used Frankincense and Myrrh drops mixed with a lotion and they swore by it.. wouldn't be without it. She had some and we tried it on my poor feet right then.. It was absolutely amazing! My feet cooled down immediately and they became their normal white skin again. That was this morning and they are still okay at 5:30 in the evening.. My gosh, maybe I'll be able to sleep better tonight... Have any of you tried this? If so, what has been your experience with it? I'm hoping to hear lots of comments back...

Hi geronimo.. Sure hope the F&M oils help you.. They don't do so for everybody, but I've had really good results so far.. Seems to help mostly with small fiber neuropathy.. and has made a huge difference in my Erythromelalgia burning foot pain.. It's definitely worth a try for you and I hope you get some relief.. Please let me know what happens... Blessings..
Thank you John... I read the Raynaud's info and followed the other leads listed there.. This gave me plenty to think about, that's for sure.. Kind of makes me glad that I'm already a mature lady... smile..
DAY - Well, the days got away from me.... I've lost count, but wanted to conclude my experience with F&M rubbing oils now ...
A couple of days ago I had a really rough day and couple of nights.. It took me a while to get my feet back under the moderate control that I've had lately, but am doing better again.. I had gone out to lunch with my club friends and altho I thought I was ordering food that was alright, there had to have been SUGAR in it... That's the one thing that sets me off... Believe me, I will be avoiding it forever in the future.. Absolutely not worth all the pain and angst... I believe it was caused by the dried fruit pieces in the salad... I am continuing to use the F&M on my feet and it has started eliminating (for the most part, except for periodic flares!) the red hot burning pain.. I woke up once last night and sprayed them with cold water, then rubbed with the oil, put cotton sock back on and slept another few hours.. The neuropathy has moved up past my ankles now and that concerns me a great deal, but so far the EM is remaining in the feet and mostly the toes.. I still count myself very fortunate that it isn't as bad as some other folks have it, and continue to pray for the grace to live a life of peace and joy for all of us...
I have tried it, but didn’t find much relief. Mixing it into coconut oil works great too
F&M doesn't do the trick for everybody, unfortunately.. but for those of us it does help, it's a blessing indeed.. At the present time, I'm trying out the Compounded prescription and not liking the effects nearly as much... Where the F&M was keeping the flares down for as much as 2 days!! the Compounded Rx has to be applied every 4 hours or so.. my feet even woke me up at 4:30 a.m. today and I had to put some more on... then I woke up around 9:00 a.m. with tingling edgy feeling in feet and calves and put more on again... Guess I'll continue with the Compound cream for another day or two, but at this point I'm just not liking it... I will probably go back to using the Frankincense and Myrrh after that... So sorry it didn't help you, but don't give up searching for something that will... I get discouraged sometimes, but I find it hard to quit trying...
By the way, did you try the Frankincense and Myrrh oil with Coconut Oil instead of hand lotion? Two things come to mind about that... 1. Coconut Oil has sugar in it (which is poison to me!) and 2. Coconut Oil is thicker and as I stated in one of my posts, any lotion etc that is more solid seems to prevent the oil from penetrating into the skin.. I tried Cetaphil with it and it did nothing for me.. Note: I use a dab of my face cream with the oil and it works great for me..
One more thing: Did you use the Frankincense and Mrryh NEUROPATHY? That's the way it is printed on the box label and it comes with an eyedropper inside the bottle.. It costs about $20 and will last a very long time.. I have only used about 1/2 of my first bottle so far and have been using it for well over a month... Little tricks along the way help, but it's important to learn all that we can about anything we use before we try it on ourselves.. Good luck to you!
For those searching for it, there is no "&" or "and" between Frankincense and Myrrh. It is simply Frankincense Myrrh. They even have a trademark on "Frankincense Myrrh," which I would of thought not possible. But it does say NEUROPATHY on the bottle. You don't mix it with anything. I also use it and can only find it at Walmart. It feels like my toes are wrapped tightly in tape or string, cutting off the circulation which can rob most of a night's sleep. But the FM Neuropathy product can take 50% of the nasty feeling away, which is enough to get asleep.
Hey thanks for resurfacing this discussion. I had heard of their anti-inflammatory properties, but hadn’t thought of trying it for neuropathy pain, it seems to really work. I just read an NIH article that cited research and their conclusion - “In brief, frankincense and myrrh, as two traditional natural medicines, have extensive and significant pharmacological effects, and their combination has magically synergistic effects.” https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6749531/#!po=10.1852
You are welcome! And thank you for the link which documents the synergistic effect of combining Frankincense with Myrrh. Very coincidentally, I stumbled across this Mayo discussion website and this thread, because I typed in Bing Search something like "does frankincense alone work for neuropathy." This thread did not touch on that but immediately after my general comment, you magically answered my question (which I did not even ask here) about the efficacy of the combination of the two oils. I've long been a skeptic of seemingly innocent homeopathic type remedies. Especially of say, some clear oil that doesn't provide any sensation on the skin, like FM Neuropathy. Yet the evidence that it works is there. Plus when I get it on my hands and accidently touch somewhere besides the tougher skin of my foot, it does tingle like it does have effect. An amazing thing for me is the relief is immediate. I wondered if it was, ok, like maybe any oil or lotion does this...maybe my feet are just chronically dry!...in addition to neuropathy. But even though I've tried other "lotions" including icy hot lidocaine, nothing does the trick like FM Neuropathy. It lasts a couple hours after application. Fortunately I wake up with less pain than when I went to bed but it truly takes a full night of rest to bring about the relief. In other words, sitting in my recliner for a few hours does NOT help and makes it worse, actually. So, without relief, there's no relaxing at night.
Hello @paulalbert, I would like to add my welcome to Connect along with @athenalee and other members. Thank you for sharing what helps you and how you found Connect. When I first started searching for something that would help the numbness symptoms of my neuropathy I also tried a lot of different topicals with no success. I also tried several combinations of essential oils mixed together with a carrier base oil and found they did not help me much. Some made the feet feel a little better but didn't do much for the numbness. I did try Frankincense along with Lavender and a few others recommended for neuropathy but none worked for me...but then I don't have pain with my neuropathy. I'm really happy to hear the Frankincense Myrrh helps you and hopefully will help others too.
Here is another article I found that talks about the topic.

I was surprised on the amount of research information I found using Google Scholar and searching for "essential oils for neuropathy"

Are you about to share a little more about your neuropathy diagnosis and symptoms?
I’m glad it works for you so well. I too have tried lidocaine, so far nothing. Unfortunately, many of the remedies people on Connect recommend interact with my immunosuppressive meds, including THC/CBD, Kava, Voltaren, etc. I did look up Frankincense and it does interact unfortunately. So, I may try a little and see how it goes.
Thanks for sending the image though. I do take Gabapentin at night to sleep and it keeps the sharp pains down. I’m trying to limit it to just 200-300 mgs., so I can usually sleep six hours or so which works for me. I know there’s no magic pill or lotion that cures neuropathy, but I’m still hoping for a more natural substance that can help relieve more of the pain and discomfort.
I hope you find something that helps you sleep longer! If you haven’t explored some of the other neuropathy discussions, you might find something that helps. I’ve learned a lot from the experiences that people share.
