How big it is! So many memories - here are a couple very early ones.

In pre-expressway days, we couldn't figure out why such a dry state had such deep roadside ditches - until we drove into our first real Texas downpour and the ditches filled up in a few minutes - and all the tarantulas and armadillos came up on the road. Crunch,crunch,crunch.

Or maybe, leaving Minnesota in a March snowstorm, going tenting on Galveston Beach, and getting a sunburn on Easter morning?

Or finding out they build houses without basements? Never heard of such a thing before.
