Whole Body Vibration for Osteoporosis
I’m looking into Whole Body Vibration to aid in bone building for osteoporosis. I’ve read that Low Intensity Vibration is better than high intensity. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Hi @jmanj, while we wait for more members to weigh in on vibration for osteoporosis, I know that @jesfactsmon , Hank's wife has used Confidence Fitness Slim Full Body Vibration Platform Fitness Machine for some of her medical issues.
Can you share what you have found regarding whole body vibration treatment?
I’m interested in this too. I can find articles on Low Intensity Vibration and the benefits (vs. High Intensity). But finding a device that meets the standards for this is almost impossible (don’t want to pay $3,000).
I'm also interested in anything that would help to reverse osteoporosis, ie; trampolene? bone growth formula? I'm 76 1/2 yrs. young...don't have a lot of time to turn this ship around.
Hello @bunky44, Welcome to Connect, an online community where patients and caregivers share their experiences, find support and exchange information with others. It's good to be 76 1/2 years young! Smaller ships are easier to turn around 🙂 That is the first thing I focused on to help me. I have osteopenia and would prefer not letting it get any worse. I try to do more weight bearing exercise but I know I need to up my game there and walking more vs using my exercise bike is probably better. Here's a few articles that might give you some ideas on things to try.

Have you been diagnosed with osteoporosis?
Hi John..thanks for the warm welcome. Yes..I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis....which got much worse these last 4 years when all I was able to do was care for my ailing husband (47yrs) bless his sweet soul...he passed Jan, of this year. So..now I'm playing catch-up...doing for me now. My DEXA was horrible...-4.1 in L-5 and both hips are -3.2.....I don't want to start down the Rx road for this...way too many contraindications for me to have piece of mind taking them. I am into all things healthy, however..and am upping my game there. Learning more about rebounding as well as doing all the 'ameliorative' things one can do. I recently had a fall...not sure anyone could have avoided this one. None the less..I hit my knees, elbow, shoulder and both wrists..all bloodied and bruised..but nothing broken!! I have a professional rebounder..and enjoy that workout, once again. I'm also more a veggie, but like fish and chicken...I'm starting on "Garden of Life" Grow Bone system. It looks to be a very comprehensive formula and I will follow the directions for optimum results..besides doing all the other added in things that I know help.
Mayo Clinic as well as Nasa have some interesting results from using reverse gravity. I know that this is a life long commitment..but I have nothing to lose by now living for me now and regaining my health. I plan on being around here for a long time...and upright!
I'd be interested in hearing from anyone else about this....
Interesting. I thought the study on astronauts was they lose bone mass. I’ll read up more. Thanks.
Hello @bunky44
I would like to add my welcome to you. I am glad to hear that your fall did not result in any broken bones. I highly recommend that you see an endocrinologist for your osteoporosis. If you are, have you had your parathyroid glands tested? Please note that this is not the same as your thyroid gland but the parathyroid glands are located near the thyroid glands.
The blood test that can check this is PTH (parathyroid hormone) and a calcium check should be done at the same time. If you have an adenoma (usually benign) in one (or more) of your parathyroid glands this can result in osteoporosis (as well as kidney stones and lots of other troublesome symptoms). It is important that your Vitamin D level be checked as well.
I look forward to hearing from you as you deal with this difficult problem. Are you having bone pain as well?
yes..they do..but..NASA found that having the astronauts work out on a trampoline worked to regain bone mass at a much higher rate then they would have just working out. It's the G-force caused by the anti-gravity part of jumping on the trampoline. Yes..look into this...hope this helps
Thank you for this info..I will check this out. My Vit D level was 'right on'..I take 5,000iu's day.
It's so very frustrating that more in the medical field have no other answers for us then to take the 'drugs' that can cause more harm then a broken bone.
Yes..I'm having back pain..I find that using a warmed up sock, filled with rice ..heated in the microwave really helps more than anything else I've tried. I move it around on my back as I sit..and soon..all the pain is gone.
I'm doing more walking, with higher knees on my trampoline and had less pain over all yesterday. I also use walking sticks when I walk outside...but wasn't the day I tripped...after just coming from my Dexa test! silly me....
I admire all that you are doing to help yourself, @bunky44! Your exercise routine puts mine to shame. You did not respond to whether or not your parathyroid hormone level has been checked.
Do you know whether or not this has been done? If you do have hyperparathyroidism you will lose bone mass until the problem is corrected.
Here is some information from Mayo Clinic's website about this problem. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hypoparathyroidism/symptoms-causes/syc-20355375
