I am currently on prednisone. I have been diagnosed with aiha for many years I am currently in a flare-up. My question is I am very nervous about taking the covid vaccine because I do not want the vaccine to cause my current flareup to get worse. Also, it seems that there are people posting that they have received vaccines but now regret doing so. There have been no clinical studies. I guess my main concern is that I have a current flare-up and do not want any severe complications. If the covid infection can cause AIHA, shouldn't getting the vaccine, make it worse if you already have it? Thoughts anyone?

Hello @apliebs and welcome to Mayo Connect. We’re a group of individuals, all with different health issues. We try to help each other with resources and information and personal experience. I’m really sorry that you are experiencing a flare right now. Does the prednisone usually help? I have a different autoimmune disease that affects my brain. When i got my covid vaccine, i was still not in remission, but nothing got worse. The doctors were really encouraging me to get vaccinated.so far I’ve been fine
What are your doctors saying about the vaccines? Have you discussed this with them?
