You have both been in my heart! As the donor, you will, in all probability, bounce back quickly. Our 36 yr old daughter did so in approx 6 weeks with “rests” daily. Stairs took about 3 weeks, and a reclining chair and multiple pillows to pack around herself were lifesavers. She did have pain, not trying to make this less than it is, but declined meds as often as possible. Treat yourself well. If you have Littles, they will want to cater to your every whim. Let them! If you have other caregivers, please allow them the gift of helping: laundry, groceries, meals, just sitting quietly. Also, everyone is different, and everyone heals at a different rate. Please allow yourself to feel exuberant, possibly depressed, calm and frantic. It’s natural.
For your exceptional recipient! Wow! Such an amazing journey! My recipient husband has had ups and downs, the cut nerves near the placement site continue to give him “discomfort.” He does not complain, so it’s very difficult to know if he feels well! However, at his 1 year checkup, it was discussed as being normal, maybe for months, maybe for years. This was a great relief to me, with my overactive imagination! The meds are so important to be taken on schedule and may or may not result in mood changes. My husband is usually even tempered with a sense of humour. Some days not so much which us disconcerting, but it doesn’t lady long in his case.
Ack! This sounds like a lecture! It’s not meant to be! Take your time recovering, you both continue to be in my heart. For whatever reason, your Journey resonated with me. Stay safe and be well💕
