Yes, a neurologist is who you should see.

Why not a podiatrist?

You want to see a neurologist if you're experiencing peripheral neuropathy, or nerve damage in your feet and toes. A podiatrist is a doctor who focuses specifically on the feet and ankles. They will treat you if you have ulcers or other related injuries to your feet.

Interestingly, my neurologist sent me to a podiatrist to get my skin biopsy. Yes I think you should start with a neurologist, but many podiatrist deal with neuropathy in the feet because it is so common with their patients. My particular podiatrist specializes in neuropathy.

Now I probably confused you, but I would start with the neurologist.

A good neurologist is number one but I periodically see a podiatrist to cut my toenails. You don't want to get an ingrown toenail or have any other problems with your feet because it would be magnified due to the neuropathy. My podiatrist knows all about neuropathy and is very helpful with ideas to minimize the pain in my feet. Good Luck!!!

Welcome @summer2025, Have you had your feet checked for blood circulation issues? How long have you had the symptoms?

Hi Summer, just curious…do you have sleep apnea? I use a CPAP machine and have similar symptoms as you.

My husband is the same. He has been prescribed circulation tablets x 2 a day. Indigestion tablet and don't know why and an Aspirin. We are on month 2. No improvement at all. Have bought cream for top of his legs which ache enormously and make his walking very unbalanced..the cream is Hondrofrost cream.

See your doctor, if you haven’t already. This is not normal. Start with a full blood scan and try to determine the cause.
Never try to treat until you know the cause and have the correct prescription for the correct diagnosis.
Your blood scan will show if you have thyroid or sugar issues (common causes of problem with the feet).
The doctor should also check levels of vitamins including B6 and B12. They can be toxic if you are taking supplements and can cause peripheral neuropathy.
Don’t let it go unchecked. The further nerve damage goes, the harder it is to reverse. Sometimes irreversible but can be controlled.
Good luck in your journey.
