Are post surgery pain and rectal area pressure a common occurrence for several years after completing the surgery?

Hi @kenc, I see you posted your question in the Ostomy group. Are you referring to surgery to place the ostomy? Can you tell me a bit more?

The surgery was to remove the colon, etc. and replace it w/ an ostomy. This is the only forum where I find a discussion on this topic. So, I posted my ailment here.

i can only sip on liquids otherwise they go straight into my ostmy bag and i don't retain any of the nutrients, i can take a sip of water and actually watch it run out into my bag. so far only gatorade and flavored carbonated water have done any good at all. found sugar free pedialyte on amazon but its gonna take 3 weeks to get it. hope you are feeling ok.

I experience the same thing. I eat yogurt and that may help to slow things up for me. Are you experiencing any post surgery pain.

Welcome Neugie. I see you and @kenc have connected. @liegeman @katydid77 @jfsbndr @msgtrebholtz may also have some tips about staying hydrated with an ileostomy.

I'd also like to bring @jandtrich13 into this discussion to see if she may have any experience to share regarding rectal pressure post ostomy surgery.
