What's outside of your picture window today?

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Nov 25, 2020

As we get ready for the real winter to show up and COVID-19 still playing a major part in our lives I like to spend moments of my day de-stressing about what's going on in the world today. All I have to do is look out the window and observe some of natures beautiful creatures, how they interact and ponder how small it makes my troubles seem. Sometimes I may even get the opportunity to take a photo or two. How about you? Anything going on outside of your window(s) that you want to share?

For those members that have the ability to size your photos before you upload them to the discussion, may I suggest using the following sizes:
– 500 x 335 pixels (landscape)
– 210 x 210 pixels (square)

Hi Barbara! @peach414144 -- So happy to hear that the medication is working for you! Another good supplement to take for fingernails and skin health is collagen. My wife and I both had brittle fingernails and it has helped a lot. I mix a couple of teaspoons with my morning coffee as it dissolves easily in any hot or cold liquid and has no real taste.

Here's a couple of birds on cleanup duty under my feeder last month.

@johnbishop We have a newish scrub jay family who moved into the empty lot next to us. The youngsters are learning how to balance on the fence, and continue to ask Mom for food. Our yard is a feast of bugs and other yummy things, so Mom just leads them here. Last year we had a family of woodpeckers who came out each evening to sit and stare at us.

@loribmt Hey Lori, that is one incredible action shot! How lucky for you to be in the right place, at the right time.
Great photographic skills, too. (sez your groupie) lol. Keep up the good work. Such a treat for all of us to see.

@artist01 Thank you, Laurie. Mother Nature provides the very photogenic models for me. ☺️ I’m just lucky. My camera is always ready and waiting right by the door, easy to grab when I catch a glimpse of something moving! LOL.

Some of these shots get a little fuzzy as I’m on a deck about 150 feet from the water so zooming doesn’t also provide the crisp shot I want. I’m easily entertained and love catching the scenes from the woods and lake.

I hope you’re feeling better!! You’re never far from my thoughts.
Hugs, Lori

John, those birds are glorious and your picture is wonderful .I love them in their natural element....thanks for sharing your beauty.

Question about the message to Peach. Why do you take that medication that helps her with her fingernails? arthritis? I've wondered if it might help me with my arthritis, and it's used for lupus I think. Would that be at all comparable to sarcoid re the use of the drug? I know you're not medical, but you are supplemental! So, supplement-ally, might it be helpful for Sarcoidosis, arthritis, nails and hair?

You are truly amazing. Knowledge beyond belief and so helpful. Thanks again.
Be blessed from head to toe and enjoy the beauty outside your window. eliabeth

@loribmt Hi Lori. I'm hoping and waiting for my beautiful bald eagle to appear high in the sky outside of my window so I can take a picture of him/her soaring gracefully above his/her hunting grounds not too far from my abode. Might be too far away for a decent zoom pic, but I'll try it!

Hi All: Peach here. Smoking: good information to know. I have been watching my morning miracles (the hummingbirds) for a number of years. Now a neighbor sits on my front porch with me and also tries to watch them BUT: He smokes cigarettes so: I put a mask on as to not smell the smoke and: The hummingbirds start to come to the feeders but then they stop and do not come to the feeders It appears that the Hummers are smarter than us humans. My neighbor is a good man but he is hooked on the cigarettes. The Hummers are smart and I am sure they will come back when the porch is clear of humans. If we would watch the birds habits it will show us a healthier way to live on this planet and do better for this planet.

Eagles are so majestic aren’t they? Beautiful birds. I always felt the Eagle was my spirit animal. But apparently it’s a huge brown bunny. I’ll have to share my “extremely high steroid” (1,000 mg daily) induced hallucinations with you some day. 😂😂
Meanwhile I’ll share my Eagle buddy with you.

Yes, I have noticed that I do not get mosquito or other bug bites. I am sure the birds are eating a feast of bugs. Great for us.

@loribmt Wow, Lori, fantastic pictures. What's the eagle got in his beak? A crow, a cat? I lost my beloved cat to an eagle or an owl. Tried to keep him indoors but he kept sneaking out with the dog and I eventually gave up. He came to me as a feral kitten so it wasn't his nature to be kept indoors. So sad. Speaking of spirit animals, I always dreamed mine was a horse, running wild and free with tail and mane flying in the wind. Turns out it's a raven, I think. I'm good with that though.
Did you have 1000 Prednisone? So did I! 1000 by I.V. per day for three days when my GCA took my right eye's vision and drs. were trying to save my left eye. (That's what GCA does.) Saved it, but on the second of three days I had a stroke and my three sons were all called to my hospital bedside from various parts of Western Canada, expecting me to expire. Ha! Fooled them. 🤣
Please tell me of your hallucinatory experience some time.

@avmcbellar It must have been and it was enormous with the most luxurious, gorgeous brown fur lying right next to my head in the hospital bed! Her eye was the size of a grapefruit and she’d wink at me as if to tell me “everything is going to be ok”. I was fully awake and lucid but my brain was elsewhere! 😂
