Citalopram 20mg. was great until the dizzy spells started. I hit the ground hard, flat on my back. This happened 3 times on different days. After that I was scared to take them again. iT Gave me a happy out look and I haven't been so happy in a long time. Then whammy the dizzyness startted. My doctor appt. will be in a couple weeks.
@mummy.43 I'm so sorry that happened but not all meds cooperate with your system. This isn't I wouldn't take any more till you talk to the Dr.give him a call there are other meds that may help like this one You don't want to take the chance you could fracture anything That's my advice as a retired nurse
@tim1028 I have been on citalopram three times, the third one starting last July. It is only 10 mg /day, but makes a difference! My peaks are smoother, those danged valleys are not so low. Fortunately, I do not suffer from the side effect of weight gain. Like you, I am a fan of this medication!

Celexa was wonderful! I’ve been on so many antidepressants for 40 years. One, Abilify, gave me Tardive dyskinesia. I finally got Austedo. I had to go off of it, because the depression was/is horrible. I’m hoping Celexa will kick back in once the Austedo leaves my system. It’s only been a few days. Yes, I had great results with Celexa.

@sandysurf Once again, here is an example to show other members the experience of different medications and how they work with different people. It really is important to know that what works for one person may not work for another.

I have been on Celexa, and in fact am on it now, at a low dose. For me, it evens the terrain out, making the mountains not so high, the valleys not so low. As with any other medication,it works for some people, and not for others.
Are you on Celexa yourself? Do you have concerns?

HI @mum1989, I moved your post to a conversation about Celexa so you can connect with other members.
Can you share a little more information with us so I can connect you with people going through the same situation? How long have you had depression and anxiety? Is Effexor the only medication you have ever taken?
I'm 80 years old. I cut my Celexa back to 10 mgs for awhile. After having chemo treatment I was very anxious. The oncologist suggested going back to 20 mg and it has worked wonderfully.

I have been on citalopram for 11 years. It's made a big difference in my mood and keeps anxiety at a manageable level.
