@placitan- Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. This must have been a dismal surprise. Did you have any history of autoimmunities? Had you had any gastrointestinal or respiratory infections prior to the GBS?
There is no known cause for GBS at this time.

I have a new diagnosis based on reaction to initial IVIG treatment and current symptoms - CIDP. Not definitive as my symptoms are not exact match. Current treatment is under review but looks like another shorter IVIG treatment done on a recurring basis....
