Has anyone experienced internal vibrations?
I started having the only way I can explain it is internal vibrations. I've had them for 3 months now, I went to t hihe ER and they told me it was anxiety. A doctor diagnosed me at a clinic as having Lyme disease I've started a 21-day prescription of Doxycycline I'm on day 7. I went to a psychiatrist a week ago to get something because of my nerves are just over the brink. He prescribed me Gabapentin and Valium I've only been on them a few days.
Has anyone experienced these internal vibrations?I have them almost 24/7 chest neck stomach from the hips down. I have more lab tests that should be in today, but the doctor's office said that they would not call unless there was some abnormality in the lab work.

Hi... so many things have happened even since writing this.... well, my Mum was what they called a "worrier" in those days and her Mum too: but the grandmother's husband died leaving her with four children in the 1920s with barely enough to feed them etc., I would think cause to worry how they were going to survive (they did). And I inherited "whatever" caused me to be concerned about many things, but I got through a lot of life's challenges and then became anxious over medical conditions and treatments; but I did have several times when given wrong information, wrong medication and wrong diagnosis.. hence my search for information which caused more worry/anxiety. Mine is mixed with "fear"... when as an example diagnosed with narrow angle glaucoma, told by "head doctor" not to take any meds that would raise eye pressure and guess what, several doctors not only prescribed such meds, the pharmacist said it was ok to use.... yet Specialist had said NO. So then am labelled as having anxiety, but to me I had good reason. I have also had food poisoning and my adult girls cant understand why I am a bit fussy about where my food comes from! (Recently had physical issue went to emerge but as soon as I mentioned anxiety and depression, I felt my physical issue wasnt taken seriously.... and I understand.. so "next time" am keeping quiet about "my" own diagnosis of mental health issues). I started vibrating in my left leg in February. Then full body at the end of April.
Hello @jos and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect, a community of members getting and giving support to one another. When you say that your vibrating started in your left leg and then progressed to full body, was there a progression of your symptoms spreading or did it suddenly impact your whole body?
Have you sought care yet?
I’ve been having vibrations for the last six months. I went to one neurologist and said it was anxiety. I went to a second opinion neurologist and he said it was restless body syndrome he thought. I was on gabapentin for six weeks and it really didn’t make too much of a difference. I woke up yesterday feeling really weird and I believe it’s the gabapentin I tried calling my neurologist and he never called me back. I went to the pharmacy and asked him how to get off of the gabapentin and he explained it to me so I am getting myself off of the gabapentin. Going to call the doctor again today and if he doesn’t call me back I’m getting a new neurologist. Very frustrating. I’m going to call my primary doctor also and tell him what’s going on.
Do you yet know why you vibrate? Mine started in my legs 3 years ago and is now everywhere. My 'next step' is another 6 months away. Also have many other symptoms but I believe my snow vision is caused by whatever is causing me to vibrate.
I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH INTERNAL VIBRATIONS FOR 10 YEARS. NEUROLOGIST HAS RULED OUT MS AND PARKINSON. I HAVE HAD A SPINAL TAP. REMOVED ALL MEDICATIONS. THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY INITIALLY BELIEVES YOUR NUTS. I HAVE APPLIED FOR MEDICAL CANNIBIS AT THE AGE of 73
CHECK BACK IF HAS ANY EFFECT I WILL POST.
Hello @bamma, Welcome to Connect, an online community where patients and caregivers share their experiences, find support and exchange information with others. 10 years is a long time to be dealing with internal vibrations and not have any answers. It sounds like you have had a lot of different tests to rule out MS, Parkinson's and more.
I'm not sure if you have already seen this information but thought it could be useful or helpful for learning more about your condition.

Do you keep a diary of when your internal vibrations occur? The first link above has a section called Tips for monitoring your symptoms that gives you some tips for keeping a diary of your symptoms to help discuss with your doctor, neurologist or care team.
THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION JOHN. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING, OBSERVING AND DOCUMENTING FOR YEARS TO NO AVAIL. I POSTED TO LET THOSE NEW TO THIS ISSUE KNOW THAT IN.MY CASE THIS IS NOT LIFE THREATENING. I LIVE IN RURAL VIRGINIA AND HAVE NOT TALKED WITH ANYONE DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE. BAMMA
Hello @jen14kay and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Thank you for joining the discussion. You mentioned that your vibrations started 3 years ago in your legs and is now everywhere. Can you share more about what you meant by "next step"?
Hello @bamma
I read with interest your post about internal shaking/vibrations. I see that you have been evaluated quite well for neurological problems and I see that John (@johnbishop) has given you some great ideas and research links to read.
While I know that you said that Parkinson's (PD) has been ruled out, I wanted to provide you with some other information. I've been diagnosed with PD but it is definitely atypical in symptoms. I have gait/balance problems. Sometimes I walk in a staggering fashion. I've also had PD voice problems and other typical PD symptoms but without tremors. As a result of being in PD support groups, I've found that many people have what is referred to as "internal tremors" or the shaking/vibrating inside their body, but not outward tremors. At first, doctors called it anxiety and gave them anti-anxiety meds (the worst thing for PD) and/or sent them to a psychiatrist, etc. It wasn't until the movement symptoms became more noticeable that they got a PD diagnosis.
I'll share with you a post by one of our members who has PD that is related to his exposure to Agent Orange while he was in the military. His doctor called this internal shaking, muscle spasms.
While I'm certainly not trying to diagnose you and I'm not a medical professional it might be good for you to at least look at his post. Here is the link, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/335142/.
Do you have any other movement problems besides this internal shaking, such as difficulty with balance, gait, walking, falls, etc.?
I'd like to know how you are coming along with this problem. Will you keep in touch?
