What's outside of your picture window today?

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Nov 25, 2020

As we get ready for the real winter to show up and COVID-19 still playing a major part in our lives I like to spend moments of my day de-stressing about what's going on in the world today. All I have to do is look out the window and observe some of natures beautiful creatures, how they interact and ponder how small it makes my troubles seem. Sometimes I may even get the opportunity to take a photo or two. How about you? Anything going on outside of your window(s) that you want to share?

For those members that have the ability to size your photos before you upload them to the discussion, may I suggest using the following sizes:
– 500 x 335 pixels (landscape)
– 210 x 210 pixels (square)

Three times a day, @merpreb Napa insists the lake has far better water than the stuff I keep in her bowl in the house! Plus she knows I frown on her swimming in her water bowl 🙂

haha. Can you blame her?

Lovely tree, @merpreb Love it! Not quite my front window, but a block away. Napa welcoming the day! Cheers to all!

Hi @IndianaScott - What a great picture of Napa and the water. I can just hear the waves as they come up to the shore.

Outside my window and inside my window.....

Dear Deer,

Please stop antagonizing my pup with your fluffy white tails. I know the grass is tasty, but I placed your food at the tree line for a reason.

Sincerely,
The homeowner that feeds you

Amanda- What are you feeding the deer? Also, respectfully, why?

“Oh my goodness, ‘lookit’ all the babies!” Both my daughter and I whispered excitedly as we saw a tiny parade of teeny ducklings and heard their cute little peeps coming down the hill next to our deck!

This little Hooded Merganser mommy waddled down our yard and through a small patch of woods with her troupe of babies. One little quacker got separated from the group as they walked through the woods. Mom and and siblings took off for a swim when they hit the lake. The little guy was left behind, peeping frantically.

My daughter ran off the deck and scooped up the potential eagle fodder and quickly placed it in the water! He/she actually caught up to the group. Phfewww. Both my daughter and I were holding our breath with worry.

It’s a little grainy. Shot from about 300 feet away and it was raining.

Where we live it’s illegal to feed the deer because of chronic wasting disease. We don’t have any issues near us but it’s a preventative? I guess large game farms who have feeding stations are to blame.
However, there are some apples and carrots that seem to jump out of the refrigerator and find their way out into the yard...LOL. Can’t resist.

We've left pumpkins, etc., cn't resist either. But other than that it's illegal to bait them or feed them in RI. too.
