Virtual support for Breast Cancer: Starting radiation soon
I am a breast cancer patient looking for a virtual group. I was diagnosed on 7/14/20 with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. I’ve finished 6 months of chemo. Had my DMX on Feb 15. Had to have emergency surgery to remove right expander due to infection. Will be starting radiation in a week. With COVID-19 it’s hard to find groups that do virtual visits.

Hi Michelle, I am 2 yrs finished with chemo and radiation, I can give you a couple things that happened to me. Stage 3 w nodes removed...
First, You look terrific with no hair - much more confident than I was. I wore a cap all the time - my head got cold at night too. I finally understood that Night before Christmas....and I in my cap... story.
My radiation nurse gave me some terrific cream. It's called Udderly Smooth. It's water based not petroleum based and is very light-slippery and goes on easily without being heavy or cakey. This felt terrific afterwards and for any skin that tries to get red or itchy. I still use it. That helped me a lot.
As for being tired. I expected to be flattened in bed. But it wasn't like that. It just comes on gradually. And look, Michelle, there's nothing wrong with rest. If ever in your life - now is the time to take it and not feel guilty! In fact, God knows what's what - he decided it's your time to take some long needed rest, so do it! Let yourself be pampered in any way. If friends or relatives want to help cook, clean or run you to the doctor, let them. I ate some great food - lots of hummus wraps with lettuce veggies. Great soups. Keep your energy up by eating, but don't think you need to do anything. You have ONE MISSION NOW - get through radiation.
I did six or eight weeks everyday except Sunday - I think? And it's only a minute-you are in and out of there. Mine had music, I could choose which kind. But the darn machine was a bit loud too.
My prayers are with you. Please post updates here and accept all our online love.
