Questions about Mayo Clinic Pain Rehab Center
Just joined Mayo Clinic Connect. What is the status of Mayo Clinic's Pain Rehab Program? Is it active or shut down because of COVID-19 restrictions? If so, what's the time line for opening up again, when and new guidelines to follow? I'm very interested in the program and have started the process, but have no knowledge of current program status. My primary physician will be sending a referral soon. Looking forward to update. Thanks.

Hello Roger @skier, Have you tried calling the Pain Rehabilitation Center? They would be able to answer any of your questions. I'm a Rochester Mayo Clinic patient and have been able to get appointments in several areas - had 2 cataract surgeries last year and a few tests this year. The request for appointment page has the telephone numbers for the Arizona, Florida and Minnesota locations.

Thanks John for the tip. Just called Mayo's PRP number and found out the program is active, but only taking 1/2 the patients because of COVID restrictions. I plan to start the process, but expect for a long waiting period. Any tips on how to move to the front of the line ? (lol)!
@skier, I've added this discussion to the Healthy Living group and the Chronic Pain group. I'd also like to invite graduates of the Pain Rehabilitation Program at Mayo Clinic to share their experiences with you - members like @rwinney @medic7054 @jefferie @dawn_giacabazi @marinelastef @kjp and @amandaburnett.
Roger, which location will you be attending?
If accepted into the Mayo PRP, I would attend the Mayo Rochester Mn program. Many thanks for your initiative to invite grads of the program to share their experience with me. Really anxious to learn if mindful meditation and other behavioral therapy techniques play a big part of this 3-week program. Thanks again, Roger (skier)
Roger, watch the youtube video w/link from @rwinney. It's good and will give you this info you want. I am finding the central sentiziation and cognitive thinking/mindful meditation and other behavioral techniques are helping me a lot. I'm experiencing wonderful changes in my attitude toward my body and it's changes, toward myself and the world. Like what's happening.
Wish you well on your journey. Stay in touch so we can know how you do......blessings, and have a peaceful night. elizabeth
Roger, here is the video to which @ess77 refers.
Dr. Sletten from the Mayo Clinic Pain Rehabilitation Center in Florida describes Central Sensitization.
Thanks, Colleen for the link. Looks like I've got a little home work to do on CSS. I'm sure I'll generate several questions after watching youtube and reading articles about CSS.
@skier Hi Roger, I'm Rachel, and graduated Mayo PRC this past October. I'm happy to help! Give me a shout out if you have any questions about the program.
This is a great reason I love the Connect site! Look at the solid info Roger got and how fast....this really makes a difference in the lives of thousands of people. Thank you Colleen and Mayo and all! Blessings to all, Elizabeth.
After graduating from Mayo's PRP, what tools and techniques are available to grads to keep the holistic approach to chronic pain management alive? I'm most interested in the mental, emotional and behavioral approaches, once completed the in-person program.
