Food while at Mayo Clinic: Are there options for dietary restrictions?

I have an appointment in Minnesota. I'll be flying in from Texas. I am on a very restricted diet, due to massive pain that ensues when I eat much else. Basically, what I can eat now is chicken, potatoes and rice. I don't think I'll be able to bring food, as I'm flying but does the clinic have food for people with strict dietary restrictions? I'm unsure of how to get myself fed while I'm there that week. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hello @cthompson Nice to e-meet you here! I am late to this discussion, but my wife was a patient at Mayo for years and one thing we noticed was that every restaurant we ate at always was more than willing to meet anyone's dietary requirements. It is so common in Rochester it is expected we found!

For all the people at Mayo on clear liquid diets, why don't they sell sugar free popcycles in the snack bar where they have the ice cream bars.

May I ask, were you able to ask a member of the staff if they had sugar free? I know that we can provide them for in patients. Also, can you share which location you were located?

No I didn't ask. It was a snack bar in the subway level by the auditorium in Rochester

Hi there....fellow Texan here and I just returned from Mayo in Rochester. The cafeteria in the Gondola building had options for special diets and was good when we needed to eat right there. I had to have a special diet for a few days while I was there due to some testing and we were even able to get food specially cooked at a restaurant across from St Mary’s, called the Canadian Honker.

We just came back from my 3 year kidney transplant checkup at Mayo Rochester. The cafeteria is open.I would think that they would fix food according to your needs. We also ate at the Canadian Honker for our transplantversary celebration dinner with almond crusted walleye and coconut cake...our usual. My daughter was my and comes with.
