Chronic inguinal pain
I am 38 years old & have suffered an injury to my ilioinguinal/hypogastric nerves after a gynological surgery. My nerve pain is in my right groin & right pubic area, occasional travels down my inner thigh. I am on Gabitril (antineuroleptic), methadone, tramadol & Zoloft for pain control. I had a peripheral nerve stimulator implanted in my abdomen, but it needed to be removed a yr later due to a chronic infection @ my incision site. It relieved about 30% of my pain but could have helped more if it didn't get the infection. My life has completley changed. The pain has limited me on doing things I used to do.
I have an appt. next month in Rochester, Mayo w/ Dr Mathew Pingree, @ the pain clinic.
Has anyone suffered this type of pain? Has anyone had pulse RF or RF ablation done? I'm scared to have an ablation or a chemical ablation due to the risk of developing an neuritis that could make my pain worse.

I have had pain in my right groin for over 20 years now. About 5 years ago a dr found adhesions or scar tissue all over my abdomen. . They believe my main right nerve in groin is being strangled? or entrapped. I guess the last couple years cryoablation has been helping in pelvic area wheras in the years before drs tended to stay away from that area. ...might be a light at end of tunnel finally. I met a new nerve doc and he will try to establish what nerves are involved and start cryoablation(icing the affected nerves) . From what ive read on it , the pain is worse then steroid shots, but people that its worked on said it was worth less pain. Depending on the person and how fast the nerves grow back, might have to have it redone every 6 months. Some can go longer. I hope it works ive had this pain since 1995 and around the clock pain since 2012. Things that make the pain worse, sitting, standing, bending, lifting, eating, gas pains, hard bowel movements, cold or stress, laughing,crying_things that make it better baths, heating pad, stool softener, laying with legs elevated, massages to affected muscles (maybe pain is tighening muscles n stuff), pain meds___( 1985,1990 )2 c sections, 1 of them with infection _(1995)_pain starts---- (2010) 3 nerves cut in groin -(2012) tubes n ovaries taken out and dr verfies adhesions everywhere and (2017) maybe pain free? I hope so
I am glad help is on the way for you, I hope that will help your pain...I finally get appointment to see a neurosurgeon in the state I live,my main issue is the compressed nerve in my thoracic ribs, getting worse by the day.
I'm in a group on FB that has people who suffer from ilioinguinal neuritis & other types of pelvic pain (which remember, pelvic pain is considered any pain from the umbilical to above the knee) The 2 docs are Interventional Radiologist. Dr David Prolog in Atlanta GA, and Dr Howard Richard @ the Unv of Maryland Medical Cntr. Google them, but 1st google Dr Prologo because he has more info on his sites about cryo. Hope this helps.
See my above comment about other doc who are successful with the cryo procedure. Dr Prologo studies say that he's has found cryo to relieve as much as 95% of his its pain after 45 days. Good Luck with your cryo & yes keep us updated!!!!
Hi, I have been suffering with the same condition. Dr. Bicket at the pain center at Johns Hopkins performed a local anesthetic and that relieved by pain totally. I was in an automobile accident which caused the pain to return. I needed to have the procedure repeat it, and so far so good. You might want to give them a call and schedule an appointment.
What kind of procedure did he perform? Also where is your pain?big have chronic nerve pain in both hands. Please provide additional information. Thanks.
