@kanaazpereira

@contentandwell, you brought back some lovely memories! We moved to Minnesota from Charleston (still have our home there), and I remember taking my kids to Patriots Point after school, ever so often...until they heard that the USS Yorktown was haunted! (Their mum was also a bit "reluctant" to go there, after hearing the stories:)
Here's a famous sighting/picture:

@kanaazpereira I wish I known it was haunted, that would have really excited me. I have never been anywhere that has been haunted but I do believe it's possible. Hauntings seem to be especially prevalent in coastal communities. I used to work with a guy who told me about hauntings in homes near where he lived. Of the hauntings I have heard of, none have been more than mischievous.

Wanted to let everyone know that I won't be able to attend and will be reducing my role here on Connect. Having become healthy enough to return to work full-time for the first time seven years -- all thanks to Mayo Clinic -- I now lack the bandwidth to be able to juggle so many activities. I love my new job as the first technical writer ever hired in the history of HP Hood LLC's 140+ year history, and I am now also Assistant Team Leader / Co-Advisor of my daughter's robotics team (Greater Rochester Robotics FIRST Robotics Competition Team 340), which is an activity true to my heart that helps hundreds of kids each year. Please keep me posted about your ongoings and activities, and reach out to me every once in while. Love to you all... Kelly

Sounds like a really neat job, Kelly @kdubois. I'm so glad for you. And, it also sounds like you've gotten yourself a great volunteer role.

You will really be missed here.

@dawn_giacabazi

I can certainly understand his disappointment, Dawn. That is an unfortunate injury for any high school senior to have and especially a singer! I'll pray for good healing.

Is he having surgery as well as the cast and crutches?

Yes, our current culture of "replays" gives all a second chance to be part of things. You just gotta love technology. (Even when it frustrates us.) 😂

Update @hopeful33250 The surgeon says he has far to many micro fractures and micro tears at this time. They will recheck every 8 weeks. There is no place for them to anchor repairs to at this time. He is now dependent on the wheelchair. He had 2 falls with the crutches. They said he basically crashed the foot between the Metatarsals and Linsfranc. He told Anthony it would be at least 4-6 months before he’d even see a therapist. 😢 Which means he would drop out of the musical since it requires dancing. He will still remain in The Madrigal Performances which was his biggest request. Thankfully he has no pain which is weird so they will be running a few tests this week to see why he has no pain. Trust me I don’t want him to but to crush your foot and not know! Somethins not right!! 🤨.

Thanks for the update, Dawn. I can certainly understand your concern. While none of us want pain, it is an important part of our body's warning system. Do you know what kind of tests they will be doing?

I'm praying for Anthony and you.

@kdubois I love Almond Breeze, I buy the unsweetened, vanilla one.
My daughter would be good at that I think but she is really busy in her job now so I doubt she would have time. She has no children, I doubt she will, so she has no contact with schools or children either. She has been a guest lecturer at Columbia University teaching writing, but of course those are big kids. She did that when she was a freelancer.

I'll second what Jane said, Almond Breeze is a favorite of mine as well!

@retiredteacher I'm eastern too, Carol. I live in southern NH, which is almost a Boston suburb. Where are you?

Good Morning, Jane, I was born and raised in South Georgia. So I am a true Steel Magnolia! My husband and I moved to North Georgia 18 years ago, and have been very unhappy here. We live in the country and aren't close to any big city. We are closer to the TN line than we are to a city in Georgia.

@dawn_giacabazi - thanks for the update on Anthony. I'm glad to hear he can still be in his madrigal performances. Disappointing about the musical. I really hope that the testing is fruitful. Thinking of you guys.

A little morsel of who I am is that I recently started oil painting again after 30+ years of inactivity. I have found that for me, painting and drawing are like riding a bike. My muscle & emotional memory knows how and what to do. I am loving it and will begin water color and other art work soon. As an older person 😄 I find I have a different view than when I was younger.

I'm also finally stepping out into my community, working on the Gil Cisneros for Congress and Lourdes Cruz campaigns. They are Democrats in Orange County, CA which has been a Republican county since the 1930's. We are working to flip the county and join the rest of California. As a result of this activity and the art class, I am meeting and making friends. It's been 3 years since I moved here and I've missed having friends. I'm an extrovert and I am now having a great time! Enough about me. I'm looking forward to the call this afternoon. Gail
