I was diagnosed with encephalitis in 1997 ,autoimmune encephalitis disease in 2014, and then elevated ammonia in 2014 and l had balance issues since 1997 and then it got worse in 2014. I have torn my cal and fell out in public. I was diagnosed with non-epileptic seizures and then conversion disorder. I had 5 stunts on my liver and then when l went to then l was told one shunt blood was not flowing and the procedure was done wrong. Now my husband is noticing l am moving my hands everyday in the same place. Is that a form of a seizure? Or can that be part of my high ammonia levels? I have come off some of my meds and l am so much clearer in my thinking and also l am allergic to a lot of meds .can that also be another reason why l am moving my hands a lot?

My 7 year old daughter was just diagnosed with epilepsy 2 months ago. She has had 3 grand mal seizures and many absence seizures for unknown period of time (looking back probably years). Heathy, normal pregnancy and childhood up until now. No major illness, has had all vaccines. She’s a sweet girl normally, intelligent, athletic. MRI “normal”. At first she was started on keppra (after second seizure, before EEG), cross tapered on depakote when realized it was absence by EEG. Had 3rd grand mal seizure a few days after taper off keppra. Depakote level in the 60’s at 125 BID so was increased. Now on 125 mg in am and 250 at night. She’s ravenous, irritable and physically combative. She’s 46 pounds (very petite) but has gained 5 pounds already. Is there a better Med than depakote? I know she needs to increase the depakote (I’m pretty sure she had a grand mal seizure in her sleep 2 nights ago, she’s still having absence seizures daily and Iher repeat level was 67) but her behavior is just getting worse and she’s gaining weight. Is there any better alternative????

i am a 51 year old female ,i had absence seizures for 10 years ,1995 surgery at Mayo in Minnesota ,had been seizure free for 21 years. Last year i was diagnosis with Transient Global Amnesia. lasted about 24 hours, cat scan and mri were good. Taking Keppra and tapering off. My primary Doctor and Hospital Neurologist told me if this doesn't work i need to see a different neurologist. Scared and don't know what to do.
My 6 year old brother has been suffering from epillepsy since he was 9 months old.He has been on several medications including keppra,sodium vibrate,phenobabiton,clonazabam etc but the drugs could not suppress his seizures. He would have more than 10 seizures a day. Now he is on clobazam and lamotrigine, but the seizures have not stopped.Is there a better alternative??
At age 56 years old, for the first time in my life, I had a complex partial seizure. I'm having them weekly. MRI of brain show benign cyst that has not grown. Is this what's causing seizures or could it be hormones? Thank you.
