Worried that bowels get constricted if 3 yr old "goes" only every 4-5 days, and that with mirolax, fibrous foods and still with difficulty. His dad had a olectomy due to Chrohn's at age 14, could this be genetic?

I'm si sorry, I must have goofed, never used Facebook and couldn't access the video via mayo Connect, still trying since 10:00, posted two questions so far but not sure if I used the right "channels"!?!  I was so looking forward to having an opportunity to make some headway with this problem but I simply goofed snd apparently am not able to "connect"!  Elisabeth

Question: How severe should symptoms be in a child, before needing to pursue a medical evaluation AND if there is with one confirmed parent who has Crohns Disease? Is it better to wait until symptoms become severe? Or would milder but recurring symptoms warrant a need for evaluation? By milder symptoms I mean every 2-3 months an episode of diarrhea, cramping, stomach pain and sometimes vomiting. With that said, also what exactly are the lines between mild and more severe symptoms in a child with IBD? Also, does Mayo Clinic provide evaluations for kids (who live out of state) and on a self referral, who might want a medical evaluation for possible IBD?

So sorry i  couldn't  connect, think it was the storm and i lost wifi but it could also be that I was technically challenged!   Not wanting to take too much of your time,  do you think Dr.. Mattke and/or Dr. Tung  could recommend a Pediatric Gastroenterologist in the D.C. metropolitan area, including in Arlington, VA?  I know Mayo Clinic is part of Virginia  Hospital Center in Arlington, VA.  Just as a reminder: it concerns my 3-year old grandson.  Thank you very much for all your help.
