I can so totally relate to this topic. I have to have a silly little benign growth removed from my nose and my having Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and an Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator has turned this from what is normally a simple little 5 minute office procedure into a surgery in the hospital with IV antibiotics beforehand and a Medtronic rep needed to disable my device and cardiac monitoring during the procedure. I have been spending hours and hours seeing doctors in advance and writing emails keeping everyone in the loop. I long for the old days when I was otherwise healthy and could just have a regular little thing removed in the office just like everyone else.
Please explain benefits of statin especially if they cause muscle aches. I stopped taking and now my chart on patient portal says "non-compliant." That sounds bad and I don't feel its accurate. I thought i had muscle aches but can't tell anybody. Is there another statin? Am i high risk? Is statin really important? I feel bad they just call me non-compliant without listening about side effects. Distressing.
I have fibromyalgia and i had a stroke may 17, 2015. I get and have had heartack and symptoms of stroke before my stroke and after. I currently (aug. 21)had a lighting bolt of pain on right back side of head going up into head that has left me with stiff neck and head pain when moving and not moving.i saw dr., went to er, and still seeing dr and am off work. I have trouble explaining my problems and am told to go to er if worst. My burdens are no server-side effects show up and i don't recognize pain but can't do what i should be able to do so i think it is bad when i go and i am put down. I get confused and upset to get problems fixed-go to er (high bill for nothing they can do), wait to go to doctor (play phone tag with machine that dont understand me), or do my own treatment. Worry about stroke did happen again or not fibromyalgia problems something else. How do i get answers and not worrying? Thank you, Leslie
Is a stroke a heart disease? I know heartacke is heart and stroke is brain.

I posted yesterday about problems with statins and even questioning if I have to take it. Then I was reading about red yeast and that its basically lovastatin. I was wondering if we can take red yeast supplements instead of a lovastatin or another statin. My prescription if for atorvastatin. I take it and I can't sleep and my legs hurt. Its really hard to take a medicine that makes you feel bad and then the doctors say you have to take the rest of your life.
Thank you for the question. Today's webinar is with other patients talking about the burden of illness. Have you talked to your doctor or pharmacist about red yeast as a replacement for statin?
