Mayo AZ WILL NOT TAKE MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLANS. Any care is at my cost, and NO RX is covered that comes from an OUT-OF NETWORK PROVIDER.
I wish I could still get care there; but at the same time I know that is impossible.

Hello @springvmll. I can hear your frustration regarding insurance at Mayo Clinic. Mayo Clinic primary care does accept Medicare, medicade, medica, MMSI and Mayo Health Solution insurance. If a patient lives outside of the boundaries that we serve (i.e., the states where there is a Mayo Clinic campus), they will be advised to seek healthcare closer to their home.
Mayo Clinic accepts new Medicare patients. Mayo Clinic is one of the largest Medicare providers in the country. Unfortunately, we can’t honor all requests we receive from Medicare patients who want to come to Mayo Clinic. We accept Medicare patients in all parts of our practice where we have the capacity to accommodate them and most importantly, as the medical needs of these patients require. The only exception is our small family medicine facility in Glendale, Ariz.

Mayo Clinic is a non-participating provider under Medicare Part B. This means that we see Medicare patients, but do not always accept assignment for payment. In these cases, Medicare pays the patient who is then responsible for reimbursing Mayo Clinic for the services provided.

Hi @JustinMcClanahan I came all the way to Phoenix from Massachusetts last week to get treatment for a blood disorder that has also caused damage to my central nervous system. I've already spent over $1000 just to get here and was turned away because I have original Medicare A + B. I quoted the website you have linked and was told that only applied to certain departments. I even mentioned that my Medicare Supplement plan covers Medicare B excess charges and because of Massachusetts laws, covers some non-Medicare covered services as well. I still was turned away and suggested to go to Rochester. I could barely afford to save the money (let alone have the energy) to get to Arizona yet I'm supposed to just travel half way across the country again on a hope? I'm Medicare/Medicaid full dual-eligible yet still pay for the Medicare Supplement so I can see doctors out-of-state or in-state who don't accept Medicaid. I asked about the financial assistance program and was told that you have to be uninsured. If that's true, why does the application ask how much your insurance premiums are and your unreimbursed medical expenses? I have no clue what to do now. Should I just turn around and have spent all this energy and money for nothing?
