On February 26th, Dr. Chandler presented research related to the HABIT Healthy Action to Benefit Independence & Thinking Program® at the International Symposium on Cognitive Research and Disabilities (ISCRD) in St. Augustine, FL. This "TED style" talk was a new, but exciting experience as a way to present our findings about the benefits to independence and self-efficacy in our patients and improved mood in our caregivers of HABIT participation.
Later that evening, she also held a discussion with community members interested in Mild Cognitive Impairment, dementia, and caregiving. The crowd asked great questions, and the need for support and resources for this community were clear!
Thanks for spreading the word about HABIT, Dr. Chandler!
Is it possible to get a copy of her presentation?
@lstegink - I'm so glad you asked if we could get a copy. I'd love to see it too!
Hi @lstegink and @debbraw ! Unfortunately when I gave the speech, as is true with most of these events, the sponsor (in this case International Symposium on Cognitive Research and Disorders) copyrighted the presentation. So, I can't just attach them here.
I can tell you all I talked about the HABIT Program, and what we specifically offer to folks with MCI in that program. I shared some of our most important findings (e.g., people tell us they find our calendar training and groups most important, and find benefit in maintaining functioning and self-efficacy after doing the calendar training) as well as just discussing caregiving stress and healthy aging tips (like we do in our Wellness lectures during HABIT).
Sorry not to upload the slides, but I hope this gives you a better sense of what I was talking about! Thanks for your interest!
