has anyone out there had a360 degree nissen fundoplication and then began developing oral thrush on their tongue and possibly throat? I've been battling oral thrush for 10 months since my operation and alll i am being given is nystatin for swish swallow and spit. This stuff is terrible to swallow. I'm still battling what i feel is heartburn after eating. The original thoracic surgeon wants me to have another 48 hr bravo test. The esophagael monometry test done after the surgery indicates that the wrap may still be too tight. I cannot make the link between the wrap being too tight and the heartburn sensation, which the surgeons don't seem to explain well. Antacids don't seem to help. Any insights would be helpful....kozlo52

I've not had your surgery, but I've had a problem with thrush of the throat and mouth recently. My ENT physician said to increase my water intake to 64-80 oz. a day and I should not have to worry about recurrence of thrush. I think this is good advice so am letting you know as drinking more may help your recurring thrush. I agree the Nystatin is pretty tough to swallow. It does provide relief of symptoms so I really appreciate it. Gail B. Ledesma

I have just had it done. 8weeks ago. Still a bit of trouble swallowing but wondering if you suffered any Diarrhea symptoms at all?

Yes I did. Be careful also what you eat. Gassy foods made me miserable because I couldn't burp or belch. Kathy

Not to long after I started eating foods again. I do occasionally suffer from IBS, think it goes along with having idiopathic gastroparesis.

Right after surgery then it became better. I can't imagine what it is except for irritable bowel syndrome or Crohn's disease. Have you been checked for that? Kathy

has anyone had a 360 degree wrap reversed to a 270 degree wrap with success? My 360 wrap was done last nov.1,2016 and has been a nightmare ever since. I have had 4 endoscopies, 3 dilations . I can eat food ok , bit as soon as i am done the burn starts. the thoracic surgeon would like to do another 48 hr bravo test to see what is going on. Initially it was thought that the wrap was too tight, based on all the endoscopies. I understand if i get a 270 degree wrap i have to start all over with liquid diet, etc. and then more possible dilations. After my gallbladder came out in july27, 2017 it was so enlarged that 4 holes had to be used laproscoppically to get it out. Since Nov. 2016 i have had 8 holes punched in me. after the gallbaladder was out my heartburn and nausea increased. The antacids do not work. Also my GI doctor said that if i stay on prevacid 60 mg i might develope dementia, osteoperosis, kidney disease. The PPI's and H2 blockers are creating more problems than not. Does anyone have an official FDA document the covers all this. Pleaase respond if anyone has had the change from 360 to 270 degree nissen. I also have spurs between c3-c4 in my neck which need treatment, but i can't do anything yet due to this continuing heartburn issue. any help or thoughts?....thank you... kozlo52

Curious if after 7 yrs can the Nissen Fundoplication be reversed? I had the Nissen Fundoplication surgery in 2011. I have been back to the doctor recently to see about having it undone. He basically blew me off. I had the surgery because of a chronic cough. Had test done to see if it was acid reflux. They said it looked like it might be caused by that. Have never had heartburn!! The cough was so annoying!!! Was desperate after going to ENT doctors, Allergist with no results. Decided to have the surgery and have regretted ever since. My cough actually seems worst then before I had the surgery!!! I think it is backing the mucus up in my throat and making it worse. I am so tired of not being able to swallow cold water without it backing up or food not going down the right away. Hopefully someone can help me on this site

Had a Nissen Fundoplication done in 2011 and want it reversed. Any advise? My doctor who did the surgery basically blew me off!!!

My husband is 4 weeks out from Nissen fundoplication surgery. They gave him a loose wrap. It has been living hell. He is miserable. He couldn't swallow a pill hardly the first two weeks, now nothing stays in him. Diarreah all the time.... he's been back to the doctor he just says give it time. He can't sleep laying down, he has lost 15 pounds and does not need to lose weight AT ALL. He's losing muscle. He wishes he would NEVER have had this surgery done. We need help!
