Yes large gap 21 yrs actually lol. Yes you have it right. I take the coreg 12.5 2×day and I'm suppose to take 10mgs of norvasc daily and metformin is the drug for prediabetes he wants me taking. I never had sugar issues at all until after being on the coreg about 3 months or so and BP has always been high early 30s till present. The coreg helps a bit to a range around 145/90ish. Better Than 200/100 yes but to bring on diabetes idk. I can't find a homeopathic holistic Dr of any kind around my area just a health in hand shop with a knowledgeable owner lol I need to do much more to help myself like more exercise but I feel so worn out most the time especially after taking the coreg. I could def eat better stop smoking completely cause I do smoke about half a pk a day was over a pk. I realize I've brought this on myself. Abused my body in my 20s from prescription pain killers(hence why I hate meds) to crashing dirt bikes etc. We always wait till it's really bad or at least most I know have. Thank you for for reply ❤

Hi @jules72. My experience might be useful since your medication is similar to mine. I have been on Coreg for 7 years as an antihypertensive beta blocker that helps stabilize my pulse, which is not quite rhythmic due to atrial fibrillation (A-fib). Has your medical team told you why Coreg was their choice to confront your blood pressure? I had a brief use of Norvasc (Amlodipine), but was taken off of it, because it caused significant swelling of the feet and ankles. During all those years, no physician or specialist warned me about Coreg causing diabetes. Have you discussed that idea with your doctor? Does your use of Metformin suggest that your tendency for diabetes is a problem for your metabolism and personal life style? Just two days ago, I had a lab test to determine my HGBa1C, and it came back at 5.7% -- just one-tenth of a percent above the acceptable "standard range." My PCP responded saying this "indicates increased RISK of developing diabetes" and recommended that I "follow a low sugar low fat diet, make sure you are exercising at least 30 minutes most days of the week, and strive to stay at a healthy weight." My Coreg dosage was cut to 12.5 x 2 daily just last week because it was slowing my heart rate a little too much, causing a bit of the fatigue that you mentioned. Have you had the benefit of diagnosis and treatment by specialists in Nephrology and Cardiology? I have benefited from both in recent years. I hope your medical team will honor your wish to work with them in dealing with your problem so you don't have to make important medical decision alone. Martin
