New to Neuropathy 2 months.

Hello @bethunger, I would like to add my welcome to Connect along with @jesfactsmon @amandajro and other members. I also have idiopathic small fiber peripheral neuropathy. It is a great loss when you can no longer do the things you really enjoy. Sometimes it helps when we can find other activities that allow us to find joy in our daily lives. I've found out that what helps me is to learn as much as you can about your condition so that you can better advocate for your health. Connect is a great place to learn what others with similar symptoms and conditions have shared that helps them.

It sounds like riding your bike may be what you miss doing the most. Are you able to just ride shorter distances or is the pain still too much?

Hi everyone. Just wondering, what is the test for neuropathy? It's often mentioned in posts. I have an appointment for a Complex Care Physical with my GP on February 10th and hope that might be something I could request for my neuropathy symptoms.
I am Diabetic (Type 2, well controlled), have Giant Cell Arteritis, IBD currently being investigated, and multi-other issues. I know, I am a Piece of Work!!

Hi, i have been reading a lot of these posts and comparing them to my symptoms, i hope to get an answer, since March of last year 2020 I felt pain in my left side and a pain in the upper left side of my buttocks after a few days pain was gone, then June I went for a long walk and the next day my left knee was swollen, after a few weeks I went to see my doctor, of course, he said not to worry, he did tell me to use a cold pack for 15 to 20 minutes 3 to 4 times a day, the swelling did not go away, he gives a referral to see a neurologist he did an EMG and said there was nothing wrong with me, I went to another doctor and I went to see a rheumatologist same thing said everything is fine with me told him my left knee is swollen told me not true, finally, I called the doctor and finally I got a referral for an MRI the spine I am waiting for the results, it does take two weeks, so right now I feel pain on both sides of the knees I was wondering are these the symptoms of rehumatoid arthritis or peripheral neuropathy also I feel on both legs some tingling. I do hope for an answer. Ty

Hello,
My Mom had knee pain and the Orthopedist was unable to identify any structural or other problems so he recommended 1-2,000mg of turmeric which completely relieved her discomfort.

Hi Jake, how long would you say that it took your mom to feel relief from the turmeric? And, was the 1 to 2,000 mg per day? It's very good to hear that she has found relief! Would you mind keeping us updated on that should god-forbid, this knee pain come back while she is still on the turmeric? Thanks so much and take really good care, Sunny flower

I have read several studies that it takes anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks but those were all referring to arthritic pain. My mom didn’t have any arthritis in her knee. She told the doctor her pain wasn’t bad but was bothersome. She started taking 1,000 but after a week or two she went to 2,000 and soon her pain was gone, Although my memory isn’t all that it should be I’d say it wasn’t more than 2 weeks if that. I remember there is some ingredient in pepper that increases the absorption of turmeric. I noticed a dramatic difference in my hemoglobin level when I switched from using milk on my cereal to orange juice. Same when I took an iron supplement with orange juice. Absorption is the name of the game. My mom got hers at Costco.

Sadly that’s not possible, my Mom passed away 15 months ago.
