Alternatives to knee replacements

Posted by rorygrabowsky @rorygrabowsky, Jan 2, 2021

I 'm looking for people that have had injections of some materials into the knee that can give me some info that will help in my decision. The arthritis in both knees are always creating clicking sounds. I don't have pain in the knees, but it's affecting my balance and creating pain in other parts of my legs and more. Please help me.

platelet rich plasma, they take around 15-20 vials of blood out of your arm, spin it, then inject into the knee. Take a cane. Its a bear to walk out . Rest up a few days and then go get em.

Is the biking that you do, both outside and inside and what resistance do you use. I have an exercycle and looking to someone that will guide me on the resistance. God Bless!!!

i manly bike outside, when it gets down to mid 30's. Colder than that is tough. wind can be a problem. Bike on a 5 resistance unless into a strong wind. Will bike down to the towpath to get out of the wind, but rough pathway. I go with what is not painful.

Isn't the resistance of 5, the most resistance?/

Will they do both of my knees at the same time??

@rorygrabowsky I use lower resistance (1 to 3 on a scale of 10) when I just want to get mild exercise and it is kind of like a warm up or an easy outdoor bike ride. I use the higher resistance 5 to 8 when I'm trying to build more strength and help with the cardio. I'm not sure there is any correct answer here. It depends on your current health and what you like to do (in my non medical opinion) 😊 Here's some information on the topic...

My physical therapist told me that pain was ok. It supposed to feed nutrients to your muscles around the knees.

with PRP? I would probably wait a few days or else have someone drive you home. Not painful. You will notice a weakness for a day. Stem cells i would probably do one at a time. I was in when the female professional golfer had hers done. Not sure how it worked for her. I would check Regenexx web site. You can ask questions . I found them to be a big help.

on my bike 8 is tops. With me it all depends on the wind.

if that is the case i had a lot of nutrients when i went thru P/T on my knee. I would rather pass on that again. What bothered me was i thought i was going to be able to resume activities. I could not swim as water caused the knee to swell. I find it interesting that surgeons bad mouth stem cells etc but i am seeing more companies paying the insurance for it. Less costly. Again, stay away from those who cell the stem cells out of a box. These people are out there.
