Gastroparesis: Anyone take Reglan? What works for you?

Anyone take Reglan? How’s it working for you?
I deal with occasional nausea, constipation, heartburn and gas.
My Dr. prescribed this medication and also wants me on Protonix. I was taking protonic’s a few months back however it made my symptoms worse. Doctor says the Reglan will help all the above symptoms. I’ve been reading up on the side effects and it makes me very nervous to take it. Thoughts? Experiences? Thank you

@achula1 I have post operative gastroparesis for the last 5 years.. I had a Nissen surgery in Central Iowa...that was supposed to reduce GERD.. it made it worse.. and gave me this slow emptying stomach because of damaged nerves around the stomach.. Mayo MN diagnosed it.. and gave me a way to cope.. My GI doctor at Mayo prescribed 2 meds.. a generic Nexium.. and Mirtazapine ... Mirtazapine is a anti-depressant that he said would help me think I needed to eat more.. I have been on it for 4+ years now .. no problems.. I still have a lot of intestinal gas and all the problems with gastroparesis, but I have gained back some over half of the 50 pounds lost at the beginning of gastroparesis ..
My son took Reglan many years back with BAD Results.. made behavior erratic.. It was then explained that it has varied effects on different folks..

Hi @achula1, I added to your title to reflect the question you wish to ask the group and to distinguish it from this related discussion:
- Gastroparesis https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/gerd-gastroparesis-neurogenic-bowel/

In addition to @ken82's feedback, I'd also like to bring @katmandoo and @darlia into this conversation as they have experience with Raglan.

Achula, am I correct in understanding that your doctor is recommending both Raglan and Protonix, but you haven't started either yet?

I took Protonix couple months back when I was initially referred to GI Dr. for heartburn issues. The medication made my symptoms worse.
I was then referred to a GI surgeon who ordered Ph study test, manometry test & gastric Emptying test. I was diagnosed with bile reflux back in August after an Endoscopy.
Gastroparesis was diagnosed after GE test.
I have nausea at least once a week. I have been dealing with constipation since my Endoscopy/colonoscopy in August.
I get gassy and have mild heartburn too.
Dr. believes these two meds will help my issues. He said if I don t take, I will be dealing with this all my life.
I have yet to start taking both.

I have nausea almost every day. Zofran works well for me most of the time. Based on personal experience, I would avoid the reglan.
