sounds in head

Posted by nazleer @nazleer, Dec 15, 2020

I'm hearing sounds in my head constantly. Does anyone experience anything of this sort? If so what do you suggest as a cure?

@nazleer you’re welcome. I did my research first. Even phoned a major health supplement company in California. I spoke to a sales representative who had positive remarks about the Lions Mane Mushroom.. Although his company did not offer it, he highly recommended buying through another manufacturer. I found mine on Amazon. I have provided the link for your review. https://www.amazon.com/gp/css/summary/edit.html/ref=dp_iou_view_this_order?ie=UTF8&orderID=112-0370912-5418639#

Sorry, it is not the correct link. The product is Organic Lions Mane Mushroom sold by Fresh Nutrition. It comes in a blue and white bottle. Hope this helps. Toni

Are you familiar with the term 'tinnitus'? Tinnitus is often caused by over exposure to loud noise over time, and/or may accompany hearing loss. It presents in a variety of sounds from chirping crickets, to clicking and whistling, etc. Some say they hear repetitive music. Google the term 'ear worm'.

Well, you can add that to my list of goodies! I've had tinnitus for several years. Have no idea why or when or what caused it, but it drove me crazy for a couple years. I had my ears ck'd, told I have tinnitus and there's nothing they can do. I have to just get used to it and ignore it. Obviously, 'they' have never had the pleasure of having it. I'm seeing the Mayo neuro opthomologist and audio specialist next week. My hearing is getting worse. For a couple of years, I haven't been able to decipher the words in sentences on tv shows, etc. Also, if someone has a high voice, it's harder and if you talk fast I'm a goner. forget me understanding anything you say. So, I guess it's time to have this area ck'd out. My son wants me to get noise reduction ear buds......Blessings, Elizaabeth

I have tinnitus, for years and have no idea what actually caused it. It's worse usually in the evening/night. Although, today it's pretty loud and bothersome. I get grumpy! Don't want to be around people of course, when it gets bad, get irritated and yucky....like I am right now! Time to do something else, think about anything other than this tinnitus. Driving, I have the radio or music on all the time. I always have some kind of background noise at home, to keep me from noticing it as much.as when it's quiet. That can drive me nuts! Maybe my appt with the hearing specialist next week at Mayo will have something new to say. I'll let you know! Elizabeth

Please keep me posted on what the audiologist at Mayo Clinic had to say.

I am an audioprosthologist and taught physicians and audiologists when I worked for a subsidiary at Siemens. Many of the drugs today cause tinnitus, including aspirin, caffeine, and chemo/radiation. There are tinnitus maskers out there, but relaxing music is effective too, especially if it is on the same frequency, ie. high tones, low tones. Good luck, sweetie!

Thanks, earscan. I have high pitched tones running in my head....mostly from my right ear...that good, relaxing music helps more than anything. In the hospital, I put on the 'calm' channel....(I think?) and relax or go to sleep with it relaxing me and readdressing my attention to something lovely rather than the high, constant crickets. Do the same at home sometimes, with 'soundscape' music channel. That's relaxing music but nothing recognizable. If I recognize it, I think the music and won't sleep at all! I've grown up around classical and other good music, loved pretty much all except loud!!!!bothered me all my life! or rambling, with no purpose. Funny, didn't realize that, but I do need the music to be going somewhere, from somewhere. My right ear also feels like and sounds like it's full all the time, like there's fluid on the eardrum. Doesn't seem to be any there, but something isn't right and hasn't been for many years. So, guess I'll find out soon and WILL let you know. I can't afford a hearing aid the way I know them.....ear buds would be great!!!!! Blessings. Elizabeth

Your audiologist is your best resource. Some insurances cover a hearing aid and if it is truly a "dead" ear, a cochlear implant is totally covered. If you need any help, there are hearing aid manufacturers that donate a hearing aid free of charge. Good luck sweetie.

Well, earscan, you are a doll! Good information for me. I'll let you know what the docs say and what to do. I know I have hearing loss that's worsening. I also know for some quality of life for me and those around me I need to do something to help. I'd love to understand conversations again, to actually understand the words in the sentences.....not either have no idea what was said or try to guess....I use the text on tv and it does help, but there are problems with it, so it's past time to move this along. I've been addressing other issues for the last few years, putting some things aside while finding answers and solutions for others, like heart, wallking, tremors, breathing, pain, etc. Now, eyes, ears, hernia/gut......on it goes for us all! Thankfully, I'm alive and better than I've been in years. God is Good. Elizabeth

yes, sweetie, God is Good. There are so many options for your hearing. As I previously said, talk to your Audiologist about it. She may not know that Starkey Manufacturing has a foundation for donations which are used to help the hearing impaired. Let me know if you more help and I can get you to right people to help if she is not able too. I was VP of a large manufacturer for years so I know the internal workings better than most. Stay well. @nazleer, another possibility is called ear worm. I've had this problem for a few years. Songs play in my mind over and over. These are songs I've known pretty much my whole life. It's so annoying. It happens whenever I'm going to sleep at night, taking a nap, or just during a quiet time. I've been trying to find information about and relief from this irritating problem. So far, no success.
