Need a friend

I deal with chronic health issues, I'm getting pretty down and am looking for people to connect with. I really need to talk with someone.

Hi Daphine, I am also dealing with chronic health issues and would be happy to connect with you via this site. It has helped me a lot. Do you want to share what your issues are? I have Sjogren's- which causes a lot of damage to my eyes and organs and AFIB, fibromylagia, asthma, etc. So far I am up to 23 conditions/diseases. I allow myself to have "pity" time -usually in the shower .and usually after I have gotten another miserable diagnosis. Many of my issues are "rare" with no cure Then drying off seems to help me feel better. I also list the good things I have in my life. Plus, I find eating dark-95%- chocolate helps. I do avoid reading or watching any tv that upsets me. I have certain authors that write really nice, happy stories. It's a constant battle- maybe we can fight it together? Take care, Joan

Hello @daphne47 . It looks like you’ve found the right place to talk. I know how hard it is to be quarantined and alone during this pandemic. I’ve been sick/recovering for about 3 years. The doctors found lesions on my brain that just won’t go away. I can’t drive so I go nowhere and the only people I see are in the dog park (and they’re all at least 12-15 years younger)! You might want to check out “the walking group.” People there just love to talk about everything

@daphne47 Hi Daphne - I’m here for you. Sometimes I am in too bad of shape to be online but when I am I can be there. Many of us look out for each other. You are not alone and you are a special person because you are you and there is only one of you. Believe me when I say that. That you reached out takes tremendous courage!

I know the feeling! I just attended a Healthy Living course at my church. It was so helpful to speak with others battling a chronic condition. We had about 6 participants, and we met over Zoom mostly, due to the Pandemic. Perhaps check with your local Area on Aging for a course offered near you?

This was a lovely reply. Daphne, there are so many people on this forum who care about each other. You will find so many people with severe problems and anyone who might have a clue or suggestion will post that information. One of these days I will learn how to post. I know, I know, the instructions are somewhere on my computer. I am not good about deleting emails and need to eliminate old ones. It is a similar situation about too many books in our house. But that is another story. I feel you will benefit by contributions from those who care and want to help. All good wishes to you, @joybringer1

My reply just disappeared. So if there are 2 of these-please forgive me as I feel like I am computer illiterate!
Fibromyalgia is a pain - literally. It's the invisible disease. People tend to say "you look fine". My orthopedic diagnosed me and said I responded to all the points. He did order a scan to rule out bone cancer-my mother died of that disease. He said "I have the worse case of fibro that he had ever seen". It is very painful- as you know. Because of AFIB, I can't take NSAIDs so I do yoga breathing. Stress will make it flare and the deep breathing helps reduce the stress. I take oral CBD as well as using a heating pad. My PC has suggested Tramadol but I would rather take the CBD. Mine has a little THC in it. I live in FL and am approved for medical marijuana. I was nervous when I started taking it . But my neurosurgeon said that you can't OD on CBD so I take it as needed. Please keep in touch. Take care. Joan
