Small Fiber Neuropathy & Supraventricular Tachycardia connection?

Posted by mandreatos @mandreatos, Nov 14, 2020

I have small fiber neuropathy and Supraventricular tachycardia. I am wondering if there is a connection between these conditions. I also have Sjogrens Syndrome. I am also looking for a Mayo physician in Arizona who would treat these conditions.

@mandreatos Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. It sounds like you have a two part question. The first is if there is a connect between Small Fiber Neuropathy and Supraventricular Tachycardia? You are also looking for a Physician at Mayo Clinic Arizona to treat these two conditions, along with Sjogrens Syndrome.

You will notice that I changed the title of your post. I did this to make it easier for members like @artscaping @johnbishop @avmcbellar @steeldove to connect and answer your question.

Regarding your questions about a single doctor to treat your three conditions at Mayo Clinic Arizona, below I have linked the Mayo Clinic's contact information. I would suggest establishing yourself as a patient through primary care and then they will refer you to specialties. I do not know anything about the specialties that you speak up, however I know that Mayo Clinic stands out due to its intensely specialized providers and it's collaboration between providers. You may not have the same provider for each of your conditions but you may have a team.

May I ask what kind of care you are receiving now?

Hi @mandreatos, I would like to add my welcome to Connect along with @erikas and other members. I think your question is a good one but not sure a member will be able to answer it. I have small fiber peripheral neuropathy and also see an irregular heartbeat most mornings when I take my blood pressure or at least that's what my Omron BP monitor tells me. I had my Mayo primary care doc look at it a few years ago since I also take an EKG most mornings along with the blood pressure using a Kardia app/device with my phone. He told me it wasn't anything to worry about since I had an EKG at Mayo recently and it was normal for my age.

Here's some information that might explain a connection. Excerpt from following article - "In some cases, small fiber neuropathy disrupts autonomic functions. Autonomic functions are things your body does automatically, such as regulating digestion, blood pressure, and urinary function. When autonomic nerve fibers are affected, symptoms can include: constipation." - What Is Small Fiber Neuropathy?: https://www.healthline.com/health/small-fiber-neuropathy
