Just had gall bladder removed this wk, food questions
Hello, had my gall bladder out Nov 9th due to stones causing acute and chronic pancreatitis. I am being told to avoid fatty, processed foods for about a month, plus to just eat less of them from then on. But here's my question: what if I already eat low fat? We weigh and measure all we eat, get the lowest fat and calorie versions of everything already and walk an hour each day. I feel like I can just go back to eating what we did before? Anyone out there already eat this way then had their gall bladder out? What was your experience?
Thank you!
Theresa

@therjes ...Back about 8 years ago I had my gallbladder removed for the same "stone" reason.. I am quite slender and eat what one would call a low fat diet.. ...I eat very little red meat.. After surgery I just kept eating as I had ... and I had no problems.. except kidney stones a few years later (those were causes by too much rhubarb and spinach (oxalates).. If you measure things very carefully, it should be easy to compare how a recommended diet compares to your regular diet... Good luck..
Thank you! I am thinking I can do that too
Hello @therjes,
I'm glad to hear that your gallbladder surgery is all over now. I hope you begin to feel better soon. It sounds as if you have a good handle on how you need to eat in the future. I did find an article on Mayo Clinic's website that does explain the low-fat diet. Here is the link to that article, https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/cholecystectomy/expert-answers/gallbladder-removal-diet/faq-20057813
How are you feeling since the surgery?
Well I'm feeling easily tired, never had so many naps! Abdominal pain is lessening. My appetite is still low. Really could go without eating entirely lol. But I'm eating as lean as I can as I always have. Thanks for the link. I will be checking it out directly
I had my gallbladder removed 3 months ago. I only had a complicated digestion problem after having had a high fiber diet. It seems also that after removing the gallbladder some people develop certain food intolerance. Not sure what really happened with me. I just had a 1 day intense laxatives, used usually ahead of colon endoscopy to empty my the contents of my intestines.
