If I had brought a bat with me I would have hit him in the head - I was so upset. It was the 5th doctor that actually is helping me - long wait but well worth it. He spent an hour and 10 minutes talking and listening to me. He told me to stop taking the wixela and use the albutorol as needed. He told me that he trusts that my lungs will get better and that I will get on track with being healthy and physically active. He told me that we are going to take it one step at a time. Side Note - purple is both of our favorite colors.
He said I should walk 30 minutes a day 3 times a week. That is hard for me to do - have back problems - I hit a semi head on and that is another story. I checked YouTube and there are some good exercises for the lungs - one is called respiratory muscles exercises. I'm looking into getting a treadmill so I can walk inside. Thanks Merry

Another helper is lightweight adjustable hiking poles. I used them extensively before and after hip replacements, and still do on uneven terrain or hills, to make walking easier. It is not necessary to go fancy & buy really expensive ones, there many available for under $50/pair in sporting goods stores and online. Mine cost about $35 and can be used on both hard and soft surfaces - there is a removeable rubber tip for pavement, with a spike underneath for off-road use. If you wear them like ski poles, there is no strain on hands and wrists using them, helpful if you have arthritis.
My walking friends in Arizona - many in their 80's - swear by them, and they do some rough hiking.

@gaylesunflower1- Am checking in to see how you are doing. Have you checked with the doctor who treats your back what exercises will help get your back feeling better? I bought a nustep. Did you buy a treadmill?
