What are your favorite apps for hearing loss or tools you use?
Hi all, technology is moving so fast right now, and I have never felt like my audiologist has been on the cutting edge. Personally, I have had hearing loss for thirty years, I know there is not one solution or one specific hearing aid that solves everything. I'd love to learn about the small things people have found that have made a difference. For me zoom captions have helped a lot lately, but masks are hard when in public. Any tips are appreciated!

I don’t need devices for business or group meetings just to use at home.. I am using a pocket talker right now because my hearing aid does not work.. It is working pretty well but at times I have problems With my sister and We have a communication problem. She will get tired of me asking her to Repeat and walk away. qWe really need to work on our relationship , any ideas.?
@judyca7 You are not at fault for your hearing loss and it sounds like your mind knows that but your heart does not. You and your husband might not be on the same page. A third party may be able to bridge the gap in understanding. Have you considered brief couples therapy?
The issue often becomes 'Who moves to the other room, the person who doesn't hear well or the person who wants to send a message'. It takes some good conversation between you to decide what works. Glad you have been able to work this out. It took a while, but my spouse realized that talking between walls was a waste of time.
When COVID is finally over, find an HLAA chapter in your area and attend their meetings. This issue is on the top 10 list of communication issues.
@bigmqama You'll notice that I merged your question into this existing discussion. I did this so you could connect with members like @tonyinmi @barbb and @futuretech that are in similar situations.
May I ask if you have tried many apps so far?
My husband and I have the same issues....I don't like talking to him through the walls here in FL either. Especially when the TV is blaring away and he tells me something while I am in the kitchen. He has learned to call my name now and I can hear that. So, I am the one who comes and then we can talk like regular people and have a normal conversation. He gets it when I look at him cross-eyed and wonder why he is yelling at me when I am making our lunch or whatever. I spend time in my computer room like right now and he knows that the door is closed - so he needs to come into the room to talk to me. I can't hear him otherwise. We have NEW ways of communications and he is learning now that works.
I recently purchased a mini mic that I will be putting on HIM so that when he says anything - it will go directly to my hearing aids and then I won't be saying..."what?" when he starts talking to me...
Hard now because I cannot do anything- everything is calm. Call. Call. So I cannot Not going to get a landline . Hates phones . No medicare changes ( Open enrollment, no healthcare etc). Masks is my enemy. Lucky I love to read
Know the masks are an enemy for everyone - that is why I am making the clear windowed masks for anyone who wants them. I have the Grant covering them and I can sent them to you. Let me know if you want any and I will send them to you - bookysue.
I have seen the recent Vanderbilt University and the Kansas University Studies of Mask Use ... Masks help ... they are beneficial .. Believe in Science..
