Early stage lung cancer
Hello everyone!
Hope you are all well
My father is diagnosed with early stage 1 lung cancer 0.2 CM squamous cell carcinoma. I want to bring my father to United States for treatment (surgery etc whatever doctors will recommend).
Can anyone in group please help me in sharing information how long the treatment process? Estimated cost for the whole treatment As a international patient? Any successful cases you know? Your help will be very useful
Thank you so so much

@malkani07 - Welcome to Mayo Connect. Is this a photo of you or your Dad? It's very difficult when a parent is I'll. You sound like a very loving and caring son. He's very lucky.
Right now there is no standard for fees charged for operations in the US. Every hospital has its own deal with insurance companies and doctors are at their mercy.
The cost will depend on where he is accepted as a patient, how your dad will pay for his treatment and how much of the virus is around. He will also have to be quarantined and tested for covid 19. I don't know what the immigrant situation is from his country.
I'm sorry to give you all of this news but the present conditions in the US are not good for VISAS. You might want to contact the US embassy to see if this is possible and what your steps should be.
There's always hope when it comes to lung cancer so continue looking for medical solutions for your dad.
Excellent advise. With the COVID-19 it will be tougher to get into United States and if do You will need to be quarantined for 14 days before and after the 14 days anything can be started.
Thank you so much but actually here in Pakistan I am not satisfied with hospital management. I will try hospital/doctor to provide me with ministry of health Medical approval so that I can bring my father for the treatment.
Can you please recommend what is the best hospitals for lung cancer treatment and how much would be the total cost for private patient without insurance?
Thank you

Massachusetts general hospital is on the east coast. I'll get some information for international patients and send it along. Mayo hospital and Mass general are considered the top 2 hospitals in the country. I use MGH for my lung cancer.
Thank you so so much your given information helping me a lot and yes I emailed Mayo clinic and waiting for their reply. Tomorrow I will call them directly aswell
Thank you
Thank you so much for pricing this information. May I ask you are you cancer free now? How long you were admitted to the hospital for surgery and how long the whole process was? Also, how was your experience at mass general hospital and how much did it cost you?
Thank you so so much
I use Massachusetts General Hospital for my lung cancer. It is on east coast just outside of Boston, MA.
Here is the link for international patients. https://www.massgeneral.org/international
Please let me know how you make out. It's impossible to know the cost for a person with no insurance. I would guess many thousands of dollars.
I wish your dad good luck. And there are always success stories with lung cancer.
Merry
I don't have the same type of cancer that your dad has. My experience at MGH was excellent. My surgeon is Henning Gaissert, MD.
My operation cost over $100,000.00 over 10 years ago. I have since used MGH for other types of surgery and they are superb.
My cancer is stable. It's called Multifocal adenocarcinoma of the lungs. I've had it for 13 years. I feel great. I am not under any treatment presently.
This is my picture Merry, I love my father a lot! I know the cost would be too high for private patients but atm I think the same that they are not giving visas due to COVID. I am in touch with mayo clinic and requested them to provide me appointment letter and ministry of health approval letter so that we can come as soon as possible.
I am really thankful to you for proving me information. I also emailed other hospitals and waiting for their reply.
