According to CDC,
For all of the following scenarios, even if you test negative for COVID-19 or feel healthy, you should stay home (quarantine) since symptoms may appear 2 to 14 days after exposure to the virus.

Hi @carolinerpt and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. You'll notice that I moved your question to the COVID-19 group https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/covid-19/
In addition to the information that @jakedduck1 provided, here is further guidance from the CDC https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/if-you-are-sick/isolation.html
If you think you may have COVID-19 and you had symptoms, you should isolate:
- At least 10 days since symptoms first appeared and
- At least 24 hours with no fever without fever-reducing medication and
- Symptoms have improved
Your healthcare provider may recommend that you undergo repeat testing for COVID-19 to end your isolation earlier than would be done according to the criteria above. If so, you can be around others after you receive two negative tests results in a row, from tests done at least 24 hours apart.
There are a few reasons why you may have a negative test and still have symptoms:
- you need 2 negative tests to be sure you are negative
- your symptoms may be similar to COVID, but are related to something else
What symptoms are you experiencing? Are you able to isolate yourself?
