Burning Hand Pain

Posted by atchastain @atchastain, Aug 7, 2020

I have Cervical radiculopathy and myelopathy. I had surgery 2 years ago, but still have burning pain and sensitivity in my hand. I'm on 3400mg Gabapentin, 10 mg Buprenorphine pain patch and a compound topical. I have an appt next week with my Dr to access my meds. What has everyone had luck with to relieve the burning?

Hello, I hope this helps, but I feel like I am being burned alive. I described it as stinging. And or, like a brutal sunburn that has burned off the top layer of my skin. At the same time I am numb all over and can be in a pool and not feel that I am wet. I can feel temperature and pressure but not wetness. I hope those descriptions help. There are mild pins and needles but mostly mine is stinging and burning. My feet and hands are like ice and knees burn especially badly so heat on hands and feet and Ice gels on knees. Hope that helps, Sunny flower

@sunnyflower Your description of what you are going through is heart wrenching. I hear you, I care, and I wish there was something I could say or do. Neuropathy is really a nightmare. If empathy could take your health problems away, yours would be gone now for all that I feel.....so sorry. Lori Renee

Thanks Loi. Linda has tried a couple different cbd oils in the past and had no benefit from it. I doubt she will want to try it again. Usually when she has given something a chance and it hasn't worked it's real tough to get her to go back to it. We also do not have access to legal THC. But I do, as always, appreciate the suggestion as well as the sentiments. You're the best! 😊 -Hank

@jesfactsmon I understand that if CBD has not helped in the past, it would be hard for her to try again. I do think that the right CBD with a touch of THC is helpful, but you have to find the right stuff. Did she try CBD with the legal limit of THC? Every state can use CBD with .03% or less, THC. (I think I have the percentage right.) If she had no THC at all in her CBD, it could be why she got no relief. I do think every state does have CBD with this legal amount of THC, but I could be wrong. I just want to help, if I could. You're the best, too, Hank! Lori

Thanks Lorirenee! It's on the way from Amazon. I pray it works as my ice gels are getting way too heavy for me and a pain (no pun!) to take in and out of baggies from the freezer. I put them on my knees every day off and on. I am grateful for them however the balm would be so much easier if it works. I'm thinking it will smell good. I have some dead sea lotions and creams over the years and love the way they smell. Warm regards, Sunnyflower

I’m sorry for the burning pain in your hand. I have nerve pain in both of my hands. The right hand is much worse and, of course, that used to be my dominant hand. Have you tried wearing a compression glove to relieve your pain? I wear them all the time, and they help reduce my pain. I don’t know what I would do without them. I also take Lyrica, which helps a little with the pain. I’ve stopped taking it twice, but I have had to begin taking it again both times because the pain became worse. I hope you will find something to help lessen your pain.

@sunnyflower Good luck with the Wisemen Healing Balm. You are actually supposed to smell it first for a few seconds, and then apply it. Sometimes for me, it works better than other times, but I would not be without it. I am also going to private message you about another product I use for Nerve pain. Lori Renee

@sunnyflower Hi again, Just tried to private message you, and my message is not sending. No idea why. If you are feeling up for it, send me a quick private message, so I can answer you with what I wanted to tell you. Thanks, Lori Renee

Someone mentioned Uber Numb 5% lidocaine cream sold on Amazon which I purchased to use on my hip bursitis. It does a good job of numbing, is inexpensive, and a little goes a long way. Helen

@helennicola I'm probably the one who talked about it. I get it at Amazon for $16 instead of the prescription (copay $120.00), which Medicare no longer pays for. I just ran out and need to reorder.

As with most topicals, it helps for a limited time. I use it to reduce the pain enough to go to sleep, and I use it when I'm in my recliner.
