What's your experience with Vertiflex Superion Implant?
Has anyone had the Veriflex Superion implant. I had it and it did not seem to work for me. Would appreciate any one that has information. Thanks

Hi
Was wondering how you are making out with the Veriflex implant? Have not heard from you in a while.
Thanx
I've had 2 Vertiflex implants put in my back. The first one was implanted in January 2020. In April I had an epidural or pain shot which did no good but I had sporadic relief, but not consistent relief. It got worse over the next few months so my doctor installed a second one in July. Now my back is much worse. I have to walk with a cane, and everytime I stand up I feel like I'm going to fall. My back feels like it is not stable. My doctor was disappointed with the post surgery xrays, and said he expected a much better result. Now it's about 4 months since the second surgery, and I'm nearly crippled. My back was much better before the surgeries than it is now. I wouldn't recommend this type of surgery for someone who has a really bad back as I do. My prior surgery where they did a decompressive lamenectomy and a discectomy worked great for about 8 years. This Vertiflex surgery has only made my situation much worse. I wouldn't do it again.

Surgery made your situation worse and you feel, "nearly crippled" now.
I'm wondering what your provider/surgeon said regarding your outcome? Did they give a reason for such a poor outcome? I'm also wondering if they offered an alternative treatment?
I have been reading the negative experience of one or two people who had the Vertiflex Procedure. I am contemplating having it done for my spinal stenosis problem. I have been in pain for three months and have gone through cortisone shots twice which didn't work, a cortisone 5 day pack and after that didn't work an even stronger one week medication that didn't work. So my rheumatologist sent me to another doctor who recommended an epidural. This would be a problem for me because I take blood thinner for my heart and also
Thank you for your input heard varying results of the epidural from having to do it three times to doing it often.
So, I am considering a Vertiflex Procedure and am looking for a lot of experiences from people that have done it and an excellent doctor. referral as to wh does them.
@arthur1 Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect, a place to give and get support. You are contemplating a Vertiflex procedure for spinal stenosis and you want to connect with people that have had this done and can suggest a doctor.
@eskimo88 @esperanza22 had the implant surgery and may be able to help answer your questions.
May I ask if you are willing to travel or are you looking for a surgeon in your area?
I'm on my mobile phone & can't seem to figure out how to post. I have severe spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, spondylitis, DDD, arachnoiditis, & a host of other back problems/previous surgeries. Injections aren't helping enough but I May have to settle for that (even though I was offered Veriflex) because I live alone/no family/friends & 2 cats that need their boxes cleaned each day & one cat need a heart meds every day, not to mention all the "can't do" stuff for at least 6 weeks. I've had 3 previous back surgeries & systemic joint problems. Is this Veriflex surgery doable ENTIRELY alone, without help? MANY THANKS!
There are several (I THINK) good surgeons in this area, even though I distrust doctors and don't have much respect for them/ got burned too many times. I can't travel because my cat needs her heart meds every day anyway. Just need to know if I can do without any help...THANK YOU!
Arthur I had Vertiflex done about 4 months ago I had high expectations but it didn’t do away with my pain the only thing I can say is if you have pain going down the back of your legs Vertiflex will help that part , other than that no help whatsoever but my back I was pretty bad and I still have lots of pain
