What's your experience with Vertiflex Superion Implant?

Posted by esperanza22 @esperanza22, Jul 27, 2020

Has anyone had the Veriflex Superion implant. I had it and it did not seem to work for me. Would appreciate any one that has information. Thanks

Hi Lorirenee1
Thanks you for your input. He is going to call the company and see what they say. I don't want anymore surgery, probably in time lI would like to take it out.
My cousin goes to a doctor in Weil Cornell and I will make an appointment with him as he does those implants and would like to speak with him. Thank you and good luck to you. Wish I knew someone else that had it, but I don't.

Hi well I still have a little amount of pain we’re my surgery was done but I have been laying low not doing much I go back for check up this coming Thursday but I will say that the stenosis part feels like it’s gone . I googled back surgeries how long does it take to get well and it does say that older people takes longer and especially if you smoke and I am a smoker so I don’t know how long if I will ever get to the place I don’t have pain I’m gonna ask her if there’s a time and point their going to take an exray to make sure everything is in place .... how are you doing ? Did you get some shots ?

So happy that you are doing well; keep up the good work. I went to a neurologist and had a nerve test in my legs because I my right foot gets numb sometimes, I guess it comes from the back. He gave me Meloxicam, but I stopped taking it because it was not doing anything for the pain in my back. This Thursday I am getting a shot, hope it helps somewhat. I will see the doctor in about two weeks. I think the shot is lidocane, anything is better than nothing.
Keep in touch, wishing you everything good!!

My 80 year olds mother had two of these put in 2.5 weeks ago - Vertiflex procedure. She is in a lot of pain and I am so worried about her. I’m not sure if it was just too much for her or what. The pain in her leg is gone, but her lower back now hurts so much she cannot stand straight. Her pain doc who did the procedure is having her go to physical therapy, but I don’t know how that will help. I’m not sure what to think. There is little info out there on the cons/issues of this procedure. If anyone knows of anyone else who is dealing with lots of pain, please post!

Hi,
Saw your post, I had the Vertiflex procedure. I wish I could tell you more, but my implant moved so it did me no good. @jfsherley on here had two implants done with the Veriflex, perhaps you could write her. She is very nice and probably can give you some info.

Very sorry to hear about the pain your mom is experiencing from this implant. Looking for info online it. Most of what I found were promotions by companies providing the implants.

I did find a very long article about these types of devices. The title is "Controversies about Interspinous Process Devices in the Treatment of Degenerative Lumbar Spine Diseases: Past, Present, and Future"

You may just want to read the conclusion at the bottom of the article, although there is good info throughout and it might be worthwhile to skim through it at least. Here is the link to the article:
https://www.hindawi.com/journals/bmri/2014/975052/

Hoping for a better outcome for her ultimately. My best to you both, Hank
