Oh dear I do have a habit of changing subjects during a conversation. The counsellor who phones me (as no office visits) lets me ramble on.. then I say, ooops, now your turn to talk. Think back to the days of yore when we were so tired and fell into bed and slept all night. Am afraid I have to take a pill at bedtime now but its the lesser of two evils. I do have my ipad on bed all ready to listen to a relaxation tape or such either with speaker low or with headphones and the combination helps with sleep. One thing, our gas fired hot air furnace is in the basement right under my bed!!! So sometimes when we wake up it's because of a noise we hear... its so cold out and the newer furnaces bring in cold air, heat it up, then blow it through to each room...but as I contend: its bringing in air that is minus 20 !! Takes a long time to heat up that air. So for those who suddenly wake up, wondered if possible its because of a noisy car going by or such... when I used to go back to visit my Mum in UK the birds used to wake me up and I was ticked off... but now with cognitive thinking therapy I try and say to myself: Ahhh, nice little birdies waking me up! (grrrr... lol)

Lacy, That is too funny! Since I was born with a speech impediment and was not able to hold a conversation until I was over 18 I have the same tendency to talk too much! I have to stop myself and listen to the other person! As far as going to sleep, I have taken Ambiem for over 10 years! Is it habit-forming? Yes! Is it maybe more psychological? Probably! But does it help me sleep?
YES!! Sleep and liquids are the two most important things we cannot live without!
I get tired of how the media makes these things like a danger to human life!
Go down any pharmacy aisle and there are 8 feet of sleep medications.
It's a universal problem !
For a long time when I traveled for 30 weeks a year and slept in different hotels and places that I had to turn the AC on in order to block out the noise!
I'm lucky that my furnace is down the hall, so I don't hear it kick on! I do have a room AC that I have that will kick on and off, but I'm used to the noise! Must be old age!
From, The Land of Enchantment I want to pass along a beautiful start of a sunset! The mountains to our east at 10,340' have snow on the top and the sun is making them sparkle!

@lacy2 Minus 20°? I presume that's centigrade but even with the translation to Farenheight, it's -4°. Brrrrrrrrr, where do you live? I don't think I could deal with it being that cold. Here in southern NH it's 27° right now, I am thinking it may be too cold for an outdoor walk.

Taking something to sleep may well be the lesser of two evils. I discussed that with my PCP in the autumn because I sometimes take Benadryl for sleep and she said it was better to take that if I needed it to sleep than to not get enough sleep. I more often use a 3mg melatonin but sometimes I can tell I need more than that so I take Benadryl instead, not with melatonin.
